I too really liked Poolparty in his draft year and was sad the Oil got him. I think with the coaches we have, and the leaders in the room that he could do well here. Try him on the line with Tkachuk and Backlund and watch him break out...

You're saying this is comparable to the bruins package outlined above? 1st, debrusk, heinen?
I don't think the flames can come close to that

There's something to be said for Old Man goalies finding another gear in the playoffs.
Roloson with Edmonton, Osgood and Hasek during their respective 2nd go rounds with Detroit, Thomas in Boston, Brodeur's renaissance in 2012, Rinne, Anderson two seasons ago, Khabibulin with an ascendant Hawks team. None were younger than 35.
A veteran goalie is certainly going to be well equipped to deal with the emotions that come from playoff hockey.

Playoffs are always different. Like, unpredictable different. Just like going from pre-season to regular season.
A lot of typically non factor players channel a side of themselves and their game we don't see for most of the regular season. Point is, we have no idea what we'll see. Who will wear a cape and who'll fade. That includes in net. It's just a handful of games and all it takes is being hot at the right time.
A defense led by Kris Russell's heroics went two rounds in 2015, for example. Players like Silvferberg go from a 0.5 to PPG, and guys like Bennett suddenly play possessed. You have one hit wonders like Tim Thomas that go all the way. Then there are players like McDavid fade into the pack, or Vezina winner like Bob that turns into 2018 Mike Smith.
We want to make declarations about whether we have the right pieces but a lot is going to be determined through waiting and seeing, when it comes down to it. We've never seen this iteration and this goalie tandem in playoff circumstances.
Hell..... could Smith channel his 2012 self? Not impossible. We've seen him on a rampage of high confidence before.

If you can score 4 goals per game goaltending is irrelevant.

Well depending on your point of view they just paid dearly for Sam Gagner or got him for nothing in a dufus for dufus swap.
I think you could easily trade Czarnik for Spooner or Ganger right now. But you won't get a third round pick for him.
If Yakupov was still able to fetch a third when Edmonton cut bait...pool party has at least that value. He's worth more than Baertschi was when he was traded. I'd cough up a 2nd for him without hesitation. But I'm not sure I would be willing to sell him at that price.

Seeing prices here I would be just as happy to sit at the sidelines for the next week.

Unless Neal is out for an extended period, I hope Treliving stands pat upfront. An extra right wing with some finish would be nice, but not if it costs any of significance. That means the 1st rounder, any of our young blueliners, or one of Jankowski or Bennett. Just say no and hold the line if any of those assets are required.

I’d be shocked if prices are as high as they’re reported. There’s a lot of talent available this year. Teams are going to have to come down from their original asking price or teams will look elsewhere for help.

But yeah if he doesn’t the next stop is the KHL
I would easily move the 2020 2nd for him. In a heart beat

We should be willing to give up the 25th+ pick this year (our 1st) for the right rental at this point. If it's a forward then one of janko or dube can go too. Any more than that and term needs to be guaranteed but at this point I think that level of commitment is acceptable to get a good rental and make a strong cup run

No just that it was basically the Flames equivalent to that "type" of deal.
The inclusion of Debrusk tips it to the Bruins but is also probably why it doesn't happen.

Andy Strickland @andystrickland
Mark Stone seems to be the most likely to stay with the #Sens. Hear nothing but great things about him as a player and leader. Might want to see what Duchene and Dzingel bring back first but there’s a growing sentiment that he’ll stay.

With regards to prices, they always seem way high on this forum during speculation as compared to reality. Both contracts and trades.

No team is presently scoring 4 per game. TB scores 3.9. I don't think goaltending is irrelevant to them. Moreover Calgary is second in the league, scoring 3.7 and we seem to think goaltending is quite a relevant topic.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
I assume thats an average based on the 60 games or so played this season?
4 teams scored 4 or more last night
Point being, it happens. If it happens in the playoffs and you have to (or can't) match that you're probably done.

The goaltending likelymis not addressed until the summer when there are actual options. I do t see Howard as an upgrade on what we have and Bob is brutal in the playoffs. I don’t think the Flames stand pat but also I could see them steering clear of the big fish unless prices come down. I am hoping for Stone but expecting Zuccarello and would be a little disappointed if they did absolutely nothing.
