Modern cars are greatest example of change for the sake of it there is. Not long ago, if you got behind the wheel of any Ford, the basic controls were the same, same function, same layout, same knobs. GM, same deal.
Now? The same function is done through different controls in different locations across same MY and even the same model. I #### you not, an F150 in our fleet has a toggle-switch for fan speed and knobs for temperature but you have to access the blend controls through the screen. Like, what in the actual ####. Two ford products, wiper controls on different sides of the steering wheel?
OEMs won’t standardize anything in their own brands. It’s a miracle ODB2 managed to be implemented at all

Dollar Shave Club has migrated to a new site, requiring that everyone who created an account before October 2023 reinitialize their account by resetting their password. So I go and do that.
"You cannot use the old password",
If you already knew what the bloody password was, then why in the hell am I resetting it?
Try again....
"Your password must meet the following complexity requirements". Oh f#$% off.
Password complexity be damned; you are not my bank, you ship me a $12 pack of razor blade cartridges every other month, I don't give a crap about this account enough that I would use one of my 'good' passwords on it. Go away and let me log in with my dogsh-t "for stuff that doesn't matter" credentials. I will at least give it to them since they do have my home address information but I am getting sick and tired of websites that don't matter which contain information that isn't important demanding security protocols rivaling a depository bank.

So he took the bins and left the bags? I wouldn't be surprised if they were told not to today, given the added risk of slip and fall, and the extended length of time it probably takes to do routes today in heavy traffic and poor traction. The bag pickup is a bonus, the bin pickup is not. I'm not sure you can complain about not receiving the bonus.

You should know this though, right(you are in IT, I thought...)? They shouldn't know the password, the code just detected the same hash.
Don't you use a password manager and let it generate a complicated one for you? That's what I do for sites I don't care about but also have my credit card. Presumably this comes back to the same group of enemies to the people it always does, lawyers and accountants.

If they can match the old password, they must know the old hash and hashing scheme. In which case, there's no reason to have to reset the password, unless there was some kind of security incident. Even if they have to migrate to a different scheme, that can be done transparently.

Not necessarily. They could have not had password requirements, and their insurance company required them to implement them. All accounts before October wouldn't have had those restrictions, so this forces them to do that. But to also disallow a previous password that met the new requirements is a bit suspicious in that perhaps they did have an incident and it is compromised.
Best to incinerate all your systems, TorqueDog.

I've been dealing with pain in my pelvis for a long time, on and off. It's now been weeks this latest round and I still have this occasional dull pain in my pelvic/lower abdomen area. I've been to urgent care, had my blood and urine checked. Had my prostate looked at. All good. I went to the walk in today to have pain killers prescribed, and those aren't helping.
This sucks.

I swear I spend an hour a day resetting passwords. Now you have to get a text ona random device in your house but now everyone is elsewhere so I have to text my son in Edmonton to give me a code. Oh now it’s expired, do it again.
In ten years are we going to be required to write a short story? I swear the cure is worse than the disease. I’d take twenty hacks on my stuff to not do the password #### ever again.
My Royal bank password hasn’t changed in 15 years.
I think it preys on people worst nightmare which is more work. IT guy want less work form themselves so they need a password change every two weeks for my airmiles account.

Try loosening your belt or moving it lower on your hips. A bit of thickening around the waist eventually affects us all and it can cause inexplicable pain.

I've always thought that a car company that goes back to simplicity and the basis in their design and features, and markets it prices it as such, will do extremely, extremely well - especially in this economy going forward.

Have you gone to physio to see if it’s muscle related? I had a groin tendon injury that they thought might be a hernia so did a bunch of testing and that all came back negative and it was finally a physio that figured it out. Took 3 months to heal and was really annoying as I kept tweaking it. Now I’m paranoid about it.

Amazes me that only a handful of roads are properly cleared/salted.
First snow of the year (usually the highest event one) and its only 10 cm on the pavement and it will still be treacherous for some drivers into tomorrow despite snow tapering off hours ago.
The infrastructure of city like ours with its known climate shouldn't be so debilitated with every snowfall event the way it is.

Obviously I’m complaining, which is the entire point of this thread. We live in a city where it snows and generally around this time of year. It’s not a freak storm, and it’s not out of the ordinary. The city should be prepared to deal with these circumstances. It’s not too much to think that these functions should be completed in normal events for a city of this size.
If the city has a (ridiculous) policy where because of an average snowfall they’re not going to pick up bags of leaves, they should let people know. They have an app, and surely a message could be sent out. Instead, people set these bags out, and now get to bring them back and store them for another week.

I guess I'm not really sure what you expect the city to do. Buy a bunch more compost trucks to handle the one or two weeks where there are extra bags? Pay a bunch of OT for them to do it, since it obviously takes much longer to have to stop and get out every few houses? They'd need more trucks to handle the extra material since they will have to do more depot runs. The policy is bags may not be picked up. If you need to get rid of them, you can still do it for free yourself at the dump.
Quote:
During busier periods, we will collect material inside the cart, but may limit the number of extra bags we pick up to make sure everyone gets service. If some of your extra bags are not picked up, store them on your property until the next green cart collection.

I expect them to be prepared to collect the bags. That’s not unreasonable at all. It’s fall, people are going to clean their yards and they know full well that there are bags out there. How they do that, and what the solution is, that’s for them to figure out.
