Would love Duchene. If he costs less than Stone to grab, all the better. More I think about it, the more I feel having him as the #2 C is just what the doctor ordered. If we're big game hunting it's him or Panarin for me.

If we don't land a tuna, I would love Johansson, Burakovsky. I don't mind either way.

But having the center depth the Flames would have with Duchene would be unbeatable IMO. Thats lethal 1 through 4. especially given how Ryan has been playing of late.

So Calgary's equivalent offer for Stone would be...

1st, Bennett/Jankowski + Mangiapane/Dubé/Phillips

Insider trading;
https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/insider...ursday~1615383

Duchene will be kept out on Thursday and presumably for the rest of the Sens games before the deadline.

too soon to say if Stone will be held out too.
next 24 hours will be critical for stone. Does he accept or negotiate off the Sens latest offer? or does he say no thanks and put himself in the same category as Duchene to be moved out

Panarin has the stomach flu, he would be playing if he could
Holding pattern on Panarin, Jackets have a good idea of what the market is for Panarin but they are working on a few other things as well

lots of teams calling on Nyquist
Nyquist has a full NTC - won't be an issue if it is the right fit
In parallel, Detroit has had contract extension talks on Nyquist
If no one meets Detroit's price, they could just sign him to an extension

Nik Jensen is attracting attention. lots of interest.
Wings are also trying to sign him but will be moved if that doesn't go through

Can remove Silfverberg from the trade bait board.
Ducks are expected to re-sign him as soon as they deal with tagging room issues

Puljujarvi is injured right now but the Oilers would like to send Puljujarvi to the AHL for the rest of the season
McKenzie wonders if relationship between Puljujarvi and Oilers management has been fractured beyond repair
lots of speculation Puljujarvi would not look kindly to being demoted to the AHL
Oilers not trying to move Puljujarvi, but can't rule out them trading him before the deadline if they got an offer that blew them away

I'll take 5 years of being a 2nd or 3rd round team over 1 big flash in the pan that still wont put us on the level of Tampa. That said i'm game for some of the tier 2 players like Zucc or Dzingel. I would be willing to move Dube or Eat bread over any of the D men. The D have shown a lot more at the NHL and as others have said who knows when Gio falls off a cliff, and when he does Brodie wont be far behind.

This seems like it could be one of the more fun trade deadlines in recent history. Seems to have more big names at high risk of leaving (ie Panarin, Duchene, Stone, Bobrovsky, etc)

It's going to be a fun monday for everyone at work. No distractions or sneaking off to the bathroom frequently whatsoever, I'd imagine.

I'm ok with trading Kylington and Dube.
Jankowski should be held onto though.
I've never believed in high priced rentals anyways.

2019 1st, Kylington & Dube for Stone if Treliving has the chance to talk to him and work out an extension first? You bet.

I totally agree GG can’t be absolved of everything. I just think that players deserve credit/blame as well. And it’s certainly not a debate ended to say “that was under GG”.

Not sure I agree.
First - I think given where the Sens are in their cycle, they probably aren't too concerned about division rivals. They won't be competing with them for a few years. The priority should be maximizing the return
Second - You still have to outbid other teams. So it would only be significantly less from Calgary if no one is willing to do better.

Funny I have the opposite POV.
I haven't seen enough progression from Janko this season to tell me that he will be much more than he is now. And there is a lot to like about that player - but 5 on 5 I don't see a top 6 player. I see a bottom 6 guy with a bit of offensive pop.
Kylington though has managed to play well in his role, but also still retains a much higher long term ceiling for me with more runway to get there. So overall he's the more valuable of the two assets.

It really comes down to how much one thinks Janko is close to a finished product or not. And in that sense my view has altered now based on how I would have probably answered that at the beginning of the year.

I would strongly consider a deal that involves Janko+Dube with the first being conditional on Stone re-signing or inclusion based on that happening in advance of the deadline.

Should add that near term if you move Jankowski I would bump Ryan up and I think Quine can handle fourth line centre duties

I would trade them Czarnik straight up. Edmonton would get a player that has been more productive than JP on the 4th line. He would probably make their 2nd line full time.

We would get a high risk, but high reward project who would have no pressure.

Yeah I could definitely see Edmonton taking that deal

Edit: I was joking, making that clear. Very lopsided

I don’t think Czarnik has any value. He’s replacement level quality.
Why would Edmonton do that? It’s basically giving the asset away for nothing

I keep coming back to Zuccarello as the option that makes the most sense. He’s the second tier of guy that won’t have the crazy acquisition cost but would seem to fit seemlessly onto our second line.
