That would seem almost disastrous to me. But I am not really sure about Chychrun

Ugh. Brad: do not overthink this. Kylington is good. He may get a lot better. Just keep him and enjoy.

Chychrun makes some sense if the Flames were as deep on Charoit and Lindholm as some of the insiders are saying.

I’d guess any D the Flames get is a 7-8.

Same. Based on what Arizona has been asking for, I think they want one really good young current NHL player, a top round draft pick, and one really good prospect.
It would be an ugly deal for sure. Maybe we could convince them that Dube is the guy to take. I actually think Dube still has some good unrealized upside, but I might be in the minority there.

Chychrun is my favorite D-man of any who have been rumoured to be available. If it was up to me, I would give up a huge haul for him. He'll be in the Norris conversation very soon, especially if Sutter is his coach. He struggled for the first third of the season, but he's come back up to 21 pts in 47 games. He had 41 pts in 56 games last year.

We're getting Scott Mayfield aren't we? RD 6'5", 225lbs, signed until the end of next season for 1.45M. Didn't watch him at all, but his size strikes me as a Sutter acquisition. He's +22 in 51 playoff games, which seems pretty amazing.
I still think that Gustafsson and maybe Chara make sense. That's a maybe on Chara, because I don't think he would enjoy sitting as the 7th D.

Maybe Leddy out of Detroit? Cup with Chicago, couple conference finals runs with NYI recently, kinda lost in Detroit but a LD who’s still just 31.
Cap is an issue but maybe they can get a 3rd team involved for retention?

Seems like a good target to me. He’s big, and signed through next year which would help with the absence of Gudbrandson & Zadorov.
Anyone know if he’s rumoured to be moved?

I had no idea who this player was, but seems to fit (outside of being RHD). https://puckpedia.com/player/scott-mayfield

I think I would give up Kylington for Chycrun, if it meant we could potentially free up money by swapping out Monahan.
Monahan, Kylington, 2024 1st, 2023 3rd round, combo of later round pick/B-level prospect (Philp, ?Phillips) for:
Chycrun, Crouse
For Az, Crouse may not make much sense given he's young(ish) and decent. But if they're all for tanking this and next year, this gives them a 1st (albeit the year after), Kylington who is trending potential top-pairing and the potential to flip Monahan again next year at the deadline, banking on him recovering some scoring with a top 6 role (defensive metrics be damned).
For us, we sell high on Kylington, offload Monahan's contract, have a cost-controlled L shot D who slides right into the top 4 and pick up an RFA who needs a contract (Tre's been solid with those contracts).
Gaudreau - Lindholm - Toffoli
Mangiapane - Backlund - Tkachuk
Crouse - Jarnkrok - Coleman
Lucic - Dube - Lewis
Hanifin - Andersson
Chycrun - Tanev
Zadorov - Gudbranson
Edit: I do worry about the chemistry in the room though to be making potentially such big moves, also not sure Monahan would waive to go to Arizona and understand it's slanted towards us "winning" the trade.

I think Mayfield was a mainstay on the Islanders' 2nd pairing last year. Not sure how he's played this season, but I think he would be a great add. Only knock is that he's another RHD.
Having a cap hit of 1.45m next season is great though and would lessen the need to overpay to keep Gudbranson.

Lou will cut his pal Sutter a good deal on any Isles such as Mayfield.

If Copp could be had for 2x2nds, I’d prefer that pickup to Jarnkrok.

I would not shake up the roster this close to playoffs.
Why tempt fate. Did you see how scary this group was last night when it was engaged?
Shaking up your second pairing 5 weeks before playoffs is how teams #### up a run.
That's why Treliving got Toffoli in February, because there's never enough time between the TDL and playoffs to find chemistry/the new player to really settle in (exactly why I don't think Giroux will be the difference maker Florida paid for).
Go with the group you've been building this whole season with. They've only proven us right until now.
