They had a good center fielder. He just can't hit.

So that makes him a bad center fielder, does it not?

Coincidentally Burnett is 10-2 since Cito came aboard.

Maybe Burnett may get some Cy Votes now that he has 16 wins and could possibly reach 20 (would have to go 4-4 the rest of the way)

Frige with all that offense in the line-up I would play the guy who is defensively sound and bat him 9th.

I think they were trying that, but when Matsui was out they were missing his offence so they were DH'ing Damon and got Nady to give them some extra clout. But now that Matsui is back they do have the issue where they have Damon, Abreu, Matsui, and Nady who's bat's they want in the lineup. So of all those guys..I guess Damon is the best to play CF. But yeah...maybe they could look at letting the 8 allstar hitters they have do the hitting and solidify their defence up the middle.

Looks like the Yankees post season streak is going to end and no doubt they'll be fuming about it. Considering they already have allstar hitters everywhere in the lineup, who knows what they'll do in the offseason? Texiera for sure, and I guess they'll be looking for a new centerfielder who can hit and play defence, plus whatever pitcher they can get. They might have a 500 million dollar team next year.

Yep, I bet the Yanks chase Sheets and Burnett in the off season. Not to mention I also agree they will try to sign Texiera.

I read a rumour that the Yankees were considering $25 million for Burnett if he becomes a FA this year. Yeah, I could see AJ triggering the escape clause if he could double his salary and move closer to home (which is apparently just outside Baltimore)

He doesn't deserve any.

Yeah, Cliff Lee would have to have a really bad finish not to get the AL Cy Young this year. And if he did, there are a lot of other guys writers will have ahead of Burnett including Roy Halladay.

I'd like AJ to stay a Jay Next year if I had to choose a preference, but him walking won't be the worst thing to happen. For the first time in as long as I can rememember, almost every pitcher on the AAA/Majors bubble for the Jays is showing very promising stuff.

Must mean that Rolen is going to be out for a bit longer. Unless I was mistaken MLB listed him as having 161 career Home runs...I was thinking...thats a damn good total for a guy who's 27, why don't I know who he is! Alas...he has 43 career dingers and 161 RBI. Tends to have about a 750 OPS, and 400 to 420 slugging.

Bautista has 12 HRs, which makes him the teams HR leader

I agree, I am betting that Rolen is gone for the year.

I read an article the other day that said Rolen has not done any baseball related activity at all since going on the DL. He is getting therapy on his bad shoulder.

So, I was just going through the Jays lineup which I'm prone to do every other hour, and I said to myself, "Man, do the Blue Jays ever need another mediocre utility infielder!"

Lo and behold, what do the Blue Jays do? They go out and get the most mediocre utility infielder ever to play the game of baseball. That's right. Jose Bautista is now a Toronto Blue Jay.

Actually, Pasoda was DH'ing a lot after Matsui went down. Posada's throwing shoulder was bugging him so much that base runners could steal at will (I think he was 2 for 18 throwing out base runners). Damon got hurt running into the wall on July, 4th. Rookie Brett Gardner came into replace Damon in LF. Around the time that Posada decided to have season ending surgery, Damon rejoined the lineup as the DH since his arm was still bugging him. When Nady was brought in, Gardner was sent back down (he has been recalled since).

The chances of Matsui playing in the field will be slim I believe. His knee was bad enough that only a few weeks ago it was reported that he would not be back this season. Girardi said he was on pins and needles when Matsui hobbled out the double the other night.

there's something extremely satisfying about laying a good ol' fashioned ass whuppping on a team like the Yankees. 13-0, Doc is cruising with some rare run support tonight.
