The leafs should have put Frank Corrado on waivers in October.
This kid's career is in jeopardy because he sat on the roster without getting any game time, and they wouldn't send him down to play either. So he's had a year of not playing anything to try and negotiate a new contract for himself next year.

Such a bizarre situation. I'm sure there's more to it than what we see as fans, but from this view it seems very unfair to basically tell a prospect "You're not good enough to play, but good enough to not be sent down so we're going to pretty much end your career and keep you out of the game of hockey".

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Carrado. Pick him up and ask him to go on a conditioning stint to get into game shape and send Kulak down rather than sitting in the pressbox. I always liked what I saw from Corrado in my viewings.

Youre missing the point of the argument...
Someone else said Sakic adds to Landeskog to get Brodie.. I disagreed. I was not advocating that the Flames should trade for Landeskog.
But some people here get thier jollies by twisting crap and people like you come along and make comments with out actually reading what they are talking about..

if "I'd do <trade> all day" isn't advocating, I don't know what is.

The context... nice try ...
The context was if it had to be done, and if we didnt have Gaudreau or Matty, then absolutely I would and so would many of you.

Davidson on the block. Oilers don't want to lose him for nothing in the expansion draft and don't have the space to re-sign him with McDavid and Draisaitl contracts coming up

I don't see why taking a flyer on Carrado would be bad. Honestly would prefer him if his conditioning is right over Joki.

Same here, it is worrying that he can't stick on teams with little depth on their blue lines tho. Would like to see him given a chance especially with the way the flames have rotated Joki,Kulak, and Wotherspoon this year. Worth a shot for me

No, that wasn't the context. No one has mentioned anything about making the trade "if we didn't have Gaudreau or Tkachuk" or whatever you are trying to claim now.
You were trying to say a few days ago that Larsson is more valuable than Brodie because he is a right shot, and now Landeskog is worth Brodie +++ because he was a high pick and a young captain or whatever your argument now is, I can't keep up with it as it seems to change as we go.
It's fine, you can just admit you don't like Brodie and would like to see him moved.

The Oilers are willing to hurt their D-men depth going into the playoffs in order to salvage a draft pick for a expiring contract. Oiler fans must be thrilled to hear the management care more about a potential 3rd rounder than going deep in the playoffs.

Yeah that's just silly considering that's an organization that should be going playoffs or bust. It's not like Davidson is going to get more than maybe a late 2nd round pick or 3rd round pick which is a crapshoot draft spot. Chiarelli had a difficult time managing the salary cap in Boston so I'm going to enjoy watching that team try to maneuver around the cap while having to hand out a lot of raises to their young players. The roster today is probably as good as that roster will ever look like.

As much as I hope they fail, I'm not as pessimistic as most Flames fans on their salary cap situation. There's still room for opportunity when they need to re-up the big guys and I think it will come in the form of Nugent-Hopkins or Eberle to a non-cap team for a pick and maybe a smaller salary coming back.
I don't think they're screwed, but I do think that Lucic contract was insane, although I understand the logic behind it. Right breed, wrong horse.

If I'm the grease I'm actually looking to pick up an expansion casualty d-man, not trade one. After Draisaitl and the Tenderness they have nobody worth protecting over Davidson, and if you can then get a Scandella or a Vatanen at a discount then you protect 5 defensemen and 3 forwards.
They're probably the best situated team for the ed, since their forward depth is putrid/exempt.
