I agree, and that's how I hope they explain it, not BS fans and push hard on the " doing all we can to make the team better and now we just move into the next option". That wasn't an option, this was a once in a generation or two chance. They tried, and didn't succeed.

They need to get better over last year, off the field have to win over fans and STH, some who are paying a lot next year more for the most expensive seats at Skydome, and winning them over sn't by sending a message that "we almost got Ohtani, so come support us because of that as we will spend some of that money to make us deeper".

Will be interesting to see how this all goes for Ohtani too, need some Toronto media at his LA press conference to push some answers out.

The sport isn’t as popular in the US or the wider world.

Anaheim got Ohtani's 23-to-29 year old prime 6 years for $42.3 million. Los Angeles gets the downhill career 10 years for $700 million.

I know which deal I'd prefer!

It would have been nice to have Ohtani but it's too much money. To back load it is even worse. Look back ten years and no player is worth that money, so in a weird way I accept this and know LA is getting played in their own way. It sucks to lose on a unique player but let's also be real, he's not the best at either of the positions he plays, so from a winning standpoint we're not missing out on the best player in his position in the majors. We missed out on the most unique player who is very good at what he does, and that uniqueness has boosted his WAR. The marketing is paying for his extreme salary. In a year he's coming off a major surgery there are risks to what his future will be. Good for him for securing the bag, but no guy is worth that much relative to his peers at $30M, especially over the long term.

That was a lot of fun yesterday. But at 70 per?!? Huge no thanks. He'll be a DH next year and will be coming off his second TJ. Who knows that kind of pitcher he will be when he hits the mound next. Would've been hella fun to have him on the Jays. Common sense says otherwise. Especially with all that deferred money. If the Jays ever go into cost cutting mode again in the future theyd be screwed.

The dodgers payroll is absolutely absurd, like beyond insane amounts of money being spent

They have to add something. Get Ohtani or Soto and Bo and Vlad stay. Now? I'm not so sure.

There have been rumors they will be in big on Bellinger.

Maybe the Jays can land Bellinger and ship Manoah and Tiedemann to the Guardians to finally pry J-Ram from them

Actually right now it’s not .

They cleared almost all Payroll for this season

Now they have no pitchers signed yet and it will get up there as they figure out the pitchers , but they actually don’t have much payroll right now signed

On an AAV level, yes for Oakland and Baltimore (at least a the start of the 2023 season).

Basically they should.go back to what we thought they should do two weeks ago when I think most of us figured they didn't have a chance in hell at either.

Is Teo signed yet? I'd like Teo back if the price is right. Bring back the fun Jays.

I want to see a plan for winning perennially. While no pro sports shows a "plan", there have to be signs of progress, and continuous development of prospects. They need to do that as just fielding a "fun" team isn't good enough. They need to retool.
