I'd take Monahan back for cheap... I can't not love the player.

I'll take him on a playoff run. Just scoring "garbage" pp goals alone would be worth it.

....buttttttt he has to be at least 70% healthy which is pretty hard for him.

a puck hit him in the skate, so presumably it's broken foot/ankle. Unrelated to past injuries. Not a career threatening injury, just a thing that takes time.

He's still 5th on the team in points in spite of missing 19 games (1pt behind the 4th place guy). And he's by far their top faceoff guy this season. MTL wasn't really going anywhere regardless, but losing Monny has been a real blow to them.

It really sucks for him. I'm positive he would've been looking at multiyear offers this offseason given the way his comeback had been going. This latest injury is unrelated to past ones, but it's really hard not to think of him as injury-prone now. Wrist problems, then hip problems and now (potentially) foot/ankle problems.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat though. Even if it was a non-player role.

Agreed. Honestly the man just needs to sit until he's 100% healthy for however long it takes and then build from there. His garbage PP goals (goals in general?) would be worth it for sure.

He makes shootout goals look so easy.

I'd take him back - but honestly unless he's playing wing here I don't see a fit.

We have Lindholm-Kadri-Backlund at center with Zary upcoming.

And even on the wing we have Huberdeau, Mangiapane, Coleman, Dube, Toffoli, in the top 9, with Pelletier and Coronato hopefully getting a look soon.

I guess there could be a top 9 winger role available potentially.

yup, I don't care. I would take Mony.

17 pts in 25 games was also a nice rebound for him whilst healthy

God I hope Darryl wouldn't make him a 4th liner again

Has to be better than Lucic as a 2nd liner. I think it would be a great add if he can play wing.

The Panthers went from the President Trophy winning team with 122 points to the current 21st team and on pace for 83 points. Marchment, who was a nice surprise but only played 53 games for them last year, was the only player of note they lost outside of the trade (plus their rentals like Giroux).

Still 7 years to evaluate the trade from the Panthers perspective, but right now I don't see why someone would use it as evidence as to why butchering your team to acquire a player is a good idea.

I didn’t know where else to put this, but sadly Johnny’s Uncle’s cancer has come back

He says it’s low grade but it’s still a scary situation

Sending prayers to Uncle Jim

They didn't butcher theur team to acquire Tkachuk.

They were never going to sign extensions with Weegar and Huberdeau.

Those guys were always going to be headed out the door.

You can't possibly know this

They could have got both signed cheaper than the Flames did... Huberdeau would have been tougher because he could have gone to Montreal but Weegar. Why would he be out the door?

If you win the presidents trophy and spend all your draft picks you should take a few shots IMO.

Being swept in the playoffs and having to claw back from 3-1 to the second wildcard just to get there sure took the shine off that presidents trophy where the team really didn’t look like they were built for the playoffs.

Why wouldn’t Weegar have signed with his hometown Sens who are looking for a top 4 D? Florida absolutely nailed the Tkachuk trade

Tampa got swept in round one, didn't panic, won 2 cups
Avs were similar with round 2

Both guys would have signed with them for reasonable contracts

Last season was their first series win since the mid 90s

Tkachuk couldn't be playing any better and they are a bubble team without a first round pick for 3 seasons and need LTIR to be cap complianit....nailed it

Tkachuk has been every bit the elite player they acquired. Neither player the Flames got looks that great. He is 5 years younger than Huberdeau and plays a physical style.

Florida is not doing poorly because they are missing Huberdeau

I was never a Tkachuk fan, I would have been happy with the 1st and a prospect nevermind adding in Weegar and Huberdeau.

If Huberdeau doesn't sign here, i'm not sure Kadri would have either.
