Yep - IMO Treliving gets what he’s long sought (Reaves) and that is tough, physicality. He mentioned a couple of times : presence. Lucic definitely has that through and through.
Treliving banking on that missing quality and I can see the downstream effects being a net positive.

Are the folks who repeatedly informed everyone that Neal has value as a Leader, concerned at all about the loss of leadership?
Repeatedly told through media and members of the organization about his leadership. Not like it was just posters claiming insider knowledge to the fact.
In the Flames biggest game of the year last year, James Neal wasn't good enough to be in our top 12 forwards, so he sat out and watched.
Flames cruised in the regular season. We didn't need grit. In playoffs we did.
Lucic at least is a different look. I dunno, I think that's the best way to look at this. We have plenty of skilled, soft forwards. Neal was very expendable. Lucic, while slow provides something we severely lack.

So basically, Brad made this trade because he thinks Lucic makes the team better. I don't know about that one, Tree..
His body language is very nervous. He knew this wouldn't be a popular move and probably would've preferred to not talk about it.
Not really saying much about the players themselves either. Leads me to believe this was more about getting Neal off the team than about Lucic, but he obviously can't say that.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
Chaisson basically doubled his goal production going from the Flames (one year of Capitals in between) to the Oilers getting a career high 22 goals. I know Flames fans are going to cling to Neal not bouncing back but it's virtually a certainty that he in fact does that as he's going to benefit from playing with McDavid and having a top 6 role. This is why the deal is so bad because Lucic couldn't play top 6 with the Oilers and they got a player in return that can and will play top 6 for them.
Yes, but if the Oilers are playing Neal with McDavid, we, as Flames' fans, have nothing to worry about. Acquiring Neal doesn't make them good, it simply continues the tradition of suck. It guarantees that they remain no good.
The fact that the extra possible value plus the cash and cap savings go to the Flames means that both the Oilers and the Flames believe that Neal was the better player.

Or it could mean that Lucic had the more restrictive contract.
might be done following the team in any capacity. this franchise will never win in our lifetimes, hockey is a dying boomer sport and i didn't even care enough to tune in for any of the playoff games and that was probably the best the team will perform for the next 25 years because we know how it goes on around here.
godspeed guys. hope the lottery gods do you right next season.
