I hate the state of politics in our country. I think Trudeau is a slimy PM but when I see PP lie about turkeys costing 120 dollars and demanding the PM promise to lower turkey prices before thanksgiving in question period I wonder where the NDP. #### me.

Heck, more like world politics in general. I've heard how in the years leading to WWII, people could just feel war was inevitable. I'm not saying it's going to be to that level per se, but it's starting to feel that same way to me. And with all the misinformation out there, it feels pretty strategic and calculated too. Me no likey...
Really hoping something changes here, this decade has been a wild ride and it's not even half done.
I keep my fuel in the top half of the tank, no concern for the pump, I just want to be able to get out of town when the ship hits the sand.
I do this too. But so I can get a head start before having to stop for gas if going out of town to see in-laws.
The other issue I have is worrying about having enough gas when I'm in a rush somewhere, or having to randomly pull over to get gas and potentially increase how long I'm delayed when stuck in ultra long winter back ups.

Agreed. I’ve been scolded for saying “this time it’s different.” This time sure feels different.
I think you’ll continue to see proxy wars and wars between the major powers and non-powers, but I think most nations understand that nobody makes it out of WW3, which makes it less inevitable than WW2.
No point in worrying about it. Love the people you love and live your life for however long it lasts.
If you have removed and installed fuel pumps before (I have done several) you would know that some people in this thread don't quite understand the concept that fuel level does matter for your fuel pump. Fuel provides the lubrication and cooling required to maintain the pump. When the idiot light comes on it's likely the fuel pump is no longer completely submerged in fuel. Nobody is saying that running on low fuel is going to harm your fuel pump but you are refilling after the idiot light on every fill up then there's going to be more wear and tear on the fuel pump over time. That said fuel pump failure isn't exactly a common occurrence these days and if you are getting a new vehicle every 3-5 years or less it's likely not going to be an issue.
I have also seen caution that running low will cause debris in fuel tank to clog the fuel filter which I suppose is possible but every tank I have replaced a pump always looked remarkably clean even on a 15 year old car.
I think if you consider how rarely fuel pumps fail, and how stupid the average person is, I'd suggest that it must not require anything much to keep them operating in 2023.
I think some of this advice is held over from the days of carburetors.

Aggressive baggage fees on North American carriers. They want to charge me $150 from yyc to yvr for my surfboard so $300 return. Air NZ from yvr to auk - free.
Nickel and dime bull#### is bull####.
Probably going to be easier/cheaper to buy a new board and sell it before I come back. I can rent when I get to certain towns but that doesn’t allow me to randomly hop in the sea for a wave when on road trips.
Lame
The trick is to declare it as medical equipment. Bag it up, label it "SPINE BOARD", blamo... free.

I've flown to Vancouver to visit family and brought my cat (in carrier under seat) a number of times - he's generally happier to be around people than at home alone for days and my family likes having a temporary pet. Inevitably, the cost for him to fly ends up being more than my ticket.

^Why the hell is it so expensive for the cat to sit under the seat?

They stopped doing that to them, at least in Canada now you get to pay a single fare even if each bovine cheek needs its own seat, which is annoying since this is not only a preventable problem but is unfair to those of us who can't exploit this two-for-one seat business.

Seems like a reasonable accommodation that solves a bunch of problems. It allows the airlines to keep seats narrow while still accommodating all people.
If you would like to take advantage of it nothing is stopping you from becoming morbidly obese.

You are truly ignorant.

No idea. But just to use an example, I pulled up Lynx Air and looked at a flight from YYC to YVR leaving November 23 and returning November 28. That flight is 49 bucks each way - $98 return. Not bad... Adding the cat to the trip is 83.99 each way, making the trip around $270 return. It's not even close.
Flair is the same, pet in cabin is $82.95 each way and flights are often under $50.
