Thus far Trump hasn't spent a dollar on the campaign, his initial campaign was funded by loans from Trump that get repaid at the end, he hasn't spent a thing on this late stage, my guess is he will end the run with a fat profit in the bank.
Trump may recover what he's spent in this campaign, but the damage done to the Trump Corporation by this campaign may be irreparable and has cost the company millions of dollars, if not billions when you consider the long term impact. That's why the news network angle makes sense because he can mitigate a lot of those losses.
As Jon Oliver said, Trump is a "luxury" brand name and who the hell is going to want to be associated with that disaster? Unless Trump starts up a brand of Camo hoodies and starts rebranding Howard Johnson's I don't think Trump is going to be in the "branding" business anymore.
It's all but over. Lead is solidified, all swing states and a couple normally reliable Republican states going Clinton's way.
If I were the Clinton team I'd put some money into ground operations in Arizona (Voter Registration mostly) and buy some more ad time on CBS Las Vegas (which also broadcasts to Mohave County, Arizona).
It's a minimal investment (honestly if Clinton is winning Arizona then she's winning by a landslide and Arizona is unneeded from an electoral college perspective) that could pay big dividends in terms of downballot races (McCain is vulnerable... if you can get him on the rocks then you can force him to repudiate Trump which is a newscycle win or you can pick up what should be a safe GOP Senate seat).

Think of the book options, the speaking tours, the movie staring Mel Gibson as Donald Trump.
They're going to have to build a whole new door to forklift the money in.

Hours before he is set to receive his first classified intelligence briefing, Donald Trump said he does not trust information coming out of U.S. intelligence agencies and indicated he would cease relying on the bulk of the intelligence community’s massive workforce.
During an interview aired on “Fox and Friends” Wednesday morning, Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, was asked whether he “trust[s] intelligence.”
“Not so much from the people that have been doing it for our country,” Trump responded. “I mean, look what’s happened over the last 10 years. … It’s been catastrophic.
“Very easy to use them, but I won't use them, because they’ve made such bad decisions,” he said, pointing to apparent intelligence failures ahead of the United States's 2003 invasion of Iraq. At the time, George W. Bush administration officials appeared convinced that Saddam Hussein’s government was creating weapons of mass destruction, though that was not the case.
“If we would have never touched it, it would have been a lot better,” Trump said.
He's not wrong that the American Intelligence agency has been fairly bad at its job over the last couple of decades, infighting within the CIA and with other agencies and kingdom protecting have wrecked the American intelligence services and they've made some incredibly bad calls.

“I mean, as you probably know, I think Donald Trump’s a turd tornado, but I also understand that he has no capacity whatsoever to control himself and be this staid politician that everyone wants him to be,” Shapiro replied. “Telling him to double down is not necessarily terrible strategy. If he’s gonna go down, he’s gonna go down being Trump.”
Keilar couldn’t handle Shapiro’s verbal diarrhea.
“A what tornado?” she asked.
“A turd tornado.”
“What is that?”
“Well, it’s like a sharknado. Except with poop,” Shapiro said, leaving Keilar to laugh her ass off.

Depends on what you think they are actually trying to accomplish.

I'm not sure anyone thinks US intelligence is perfect, but if he's not going to use his own intelligence sources who is he going to use? FSB? Breitbart and the Enquirer? Omarosa? The voices in his head? It was just another dumb remark that follows his recent pattern of saying things that are decidedly lacking in intelligence.

He's going to outsource intelligence gathering to the private sector. Right now he's in talks with Mallory Archer to see how she feels about rebranding under the Trump name.

I think the CIA was given the task of finding evidence of WMD by Cheney. That they more or less manufactured something to please, is not the way the CIA should work.

It goes far beyond the whole WMD thing, the CIA has been fighting an internal war with itself since it was founded, but it got completely out of control towards the end of the Clinton administration to the point where the President was literally getting multiple conflicting reports from multiple different desks with conclusions that were no better then "Those guys in that other department are p######ed, we're right nyah nyah nyah"
I said that Trump was right in terms of the perceived failures of the American Intelligence apparatus, but he's completely wrong to say that he should discount it. Whoever wins the presidency really needs to appoint a strong face to over sea all of the groups.

Conway is his campaign manager now? I thought she didn't like him. Wasn't she supporting Cruz?
Not only did she support Cruz, she produced anti-Trump TV ads, and maxed out her personal contribution limit to Cruz's campaign. He truly does only hire the best people.
Oh and for fun, her ex-client list is a whos who of GOP losers: Todd Akin, Newt Gingrich, Cruz, Dan Quayle, Fred Thompson to name a few.
