I posted a month plus back that Calgary had inquired about him and a poster on here said I was a wannabe Oilers insider lol.

Ahh I didn't know that.
I'd give him the max term then (4?5? years). Might be more attractive for him anyways, since he would be getting big dollars now and a UFA at 27, for another big pay day.

I've seen people here mention him as well as a 4LC but has he even played there in SJ at all? Mostly a winger correct?

I don't think anyone really takes a discount.
It is about the money. Just look at Rantanen, he played hardball with the Avs and got traded. Colorado was perfect for him.

Yeah for sure. Just the perfect player to be on the wing next to Draisaitl.

I don't think Buffalo should do much the trade deadline, they should just sell some UFAs
They could be a team to watch at the draft. Step 1 should be seeing where they pick this draft and who they are getting. After that, they should be looking at a big move and the players they should be shopping are Benson, Byram/Power, Quinn, and maybe some of their other prospects.
If they get a top center in the draft, move on from Cozens too.
They should be loading up for proven player and 3rd line grit.

Yeah he can play in both spots and has played both in SJ this year. Even in the bottom 6 he can score 15 or so. Good player.

Sure, it's not hard to consider best case scenarios.

Yeah but he is still a UFA and can go wherever he wants and get more money than the Avs offered

So you are agreeing with me, its about the money.
Edmonton fans told us Leon was taking a big discount to stay in Edmonton instead he signed the biggest deal in the cap era.
Mackinnon fresh off a cup signed a deal to be the highest paid player. That cost Colorado a lot of depth.
Tavares dream was to play in Toronto and he signed for 11M.
Johnston probably wants to set the market.

Within reason, a guy might leave a little on the table for fit but not much

I mean having the same thought as Francis may not be the win you think it is

I get that. But I was told this by someone in the Sharks organization. Not speculation.

I wonder if Edmonton tries to buy low on Mrazek with Chicago acquiring Knight.

Frank Seravelli today said this as a thought. Not a fan of Mrazek.

No, playoff contender and Stanley Cup contender are totally different things. This team right now is a playoff contender, as in a contender to make the playoffs.

Coleman to Dallas for Lian Bichsel.
My dream.
Bichsel and Parekh would be a scary duo.
