No, your response was the correct one. There's a good movie in there somewhere but the director and writer weren't the ones to find it. It meanders and tries to be Goodfellas a bit too hard while the female lead is not what I'd call someone who makes the most of the material. If you’re a Tom Hardy fan it's another in his catalogue of wacky American accents that he commits to entirely but other than that it's not a particularly memorable film.

I re-watched Terminator 2 Judgement Day, it's a perfect action/sci Fi movie imo. I remember when I was a kid this film was so huge everyone knew all the key parts even if you never saw it. It just became a part of pop culture instantly and for good reason. This film is timeless, it's been 30 years and it's still so impactful. I bet if you show this to high school students today that have never seen it, they would love it.

I intrinsically disagree with most of your opinions regarding movies, but labeling T2 as essentially a 'perfect' action/sci-fi film will not be one of them.

I cant argue with that. T2 is a masterpiece.

Brilliant. Just....*chef's kiss* brilliant.

The bar scene? Oh man...the chases? All of it, just so, so good. You can watch that movie and then sit your ass right back down and watch it again!

Agree with T2 being a masterpiece. Incredible film. Makes me wish Cameron would return to making cool original stories again instead of being constantly tied up with all this Avatar nonsense. T1, T2, the Abyss, Aliens, True Lies… give me more of that stuff, please.

Continuing with the franchise next up was Terminator 3. This one is a decent action film, unfortunately for it, it comes out after 2 of the best action films ever. If it was named something different I might have enjoyed it more. This one felt very rushed compared to T2. T2 is 2.5hrs long while this one was less than 2hrs. Also it tried to incorporate too much humor that didn't work for me. I also didn't enjoy that they killed Sarah Connor off screen, she deserved better imo. And the whole plot felt recycled from the previous films, but worse. But having said all that I really liked the ending (even if it contradicts T2), its really chilling.

I started watching Inherit the Wind and it felt too much like watching current news, so I shut it off and watched MacGruber instead. (4/5 throat rips)

And I've said it before: Tremors>Terminator

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Still, a very exceptional play/film based on the actual Scopes Monkey trial. I still refer to it on a regular basis.

Those were all such GREAT movies! I cant stand the Avatars, but if someone throws on The Abyss...I'm watching!

I gotta say I really liked Terminator Salvation. I think it's my favorite sequel outside T2. It's something different and not just someone gets sent to the past to kill someone. Also the special effects (except for cgi Arnold) still hold up really well. Every time I watch Salvation I enjoy it a little more

I watched Nightbitch with Amy Adams. The trailer made it seem much more funny and supernatural than the final product.

It was more about the struggle for a woman's identity after having a child than it was a dark comedy about a werewolf.

That was a cool nod to the old Rifleman tv show.

Really? That's disappointing. I wanted the dark comedy about a werewolf.

Watched this last night. I think I'll need to go looking for the book in order to fill in some blanks, but it's definitely worth the watch (the 70s really were a golden age of movies). I think it's actually David Bowie's autobiography brought to film:

Saw Nosferatu yesterday, pretty much what you'd expect. A lot of good in it, a lot to like on the technical and exexution side, lots of good acting etc.

Nosferatu just isn't that great of a story though. You probably couldn't do it much better than this if you want to do a faithful version, but it's still kind of a mess.

Well worth seeing if you're into Eggers.

I thought it was as great movie viewing experience. I'm pretty much the opposite of what Bs&Cs posted earlier. Thought the cinematography was quite pleasing to see and the sound along with it. Not sure where plasticky set design came from, this wasn't Barbie-level set quality. I thought the settings more than looked adequate and dirty enough. I distinctly remember the first day-scene in the count's castle and thinking how dusty and run down it looked. CGI was more than fine.

I agree the story was probably the weakest part. Not that it was bad, but it was basically the story of a vampire so obsessed with blowing his load in some random married girl who cried out to him in her dreams, that he ends up suiciding himself for it? Strange stuff, but the rest was pretty interesting.

Overall I thought it was really good and it's worth viewing in theatre for the sound production. Seems to be one of those love or hate if films. Wife didn't like it and fell asleep at some point lol. The other couple we were with were also split 50/50 on liking it.
