The 6-7-8 hitters are killing Romero tonight.

Romero served up a couple of meaty fastballs.

I cannot believe they are still playing. It is pouring right now. Poor Fred Lewis, looked like a fairly routine catch, but with the lights and rain he lost sight of it. Too bad the Jays weren't hitting right now.

So bad to play in these conditions. Couldn't they have played 2 tomorrow? It's not like these teams are going anywhere. It's game 1!

Another delay, just after the Rockies added on another run. Wouldn't be surprised if they called this. Would be pretty crappy luck for the Jays.

Small ball, Cito....it's called SMALL BALL.

Getting a little concerning that the Jays aren't scoring if they don't hit HRs. Please don't let this start the annual slide to mediocrity.

Aren't we used to this by now?

A few more series against AL East teams and our season is probably over.

Well the early signs on Jesse Litsch are not very good. Minor league hitters beating him up, and now the MLB'es turn it up a notch. This is a guy who really had to pitch to get hitters out because his stuff is far from outstanding. So if he's lost anything, in particular a good out pitch, he's frankly not much use.

What a difference a week makes. A week ago the Jays took two of three from the Yankees putting themselves only 2 games back of the 27 time world champions. Today the Yankees are tied for first with the Jays 6.5 games back and only 4 games above 500.

Takes a couple of months for the teams to get some film on the Blue Jays young pitchers. The declined usually starts from there.

He was really good as a 21 year old that threw cutters exclusivly - he might go Chacin on us, but I'd give him a year before considering giving up on him.

It's only been a year since his TJ surgery.

As for MJM's scouting comment, no team needs months to get scouting reports on any current Jays pitcher. They're young, but they're established big leaguers (at least as far as pro scouts are concerned).

Pitching has still been decent, aside from guys like Tallet who you don't expect much from. The bats have gone silent though and that's hurt them.

Actually I was expecting more from Tallet, I think he's more of a victim of circumstance than a poor pitcher.

Last year in May/June (after he was converted to starter from reliever due to injury) he had a 3.875 ERA - which is fine by any measure, but he was also very feast-or-famine. 8 runs in five innings or 0 runs in seven; that might seem like a negative but with such an anemic offense I remember prefering his inconsistency (opposed to 4 runs every game, which the offense never would have overcame).

Jays young pitchers are still doing really well, for example Morrow gave up 1 run in his last game. Yet the Jays lost 1-0 to the Rockies.

Cecil has a record of 7-2, has won his last 5 in a row.

Marcum and Romero for the most part have pitched really well.

Jays 5th starter position is a struggle, Litsch got hit hard in first start in 1 year. I would guess they will stay with him for awhile.

Jays troubles last little while have been the Relief Pitchers, and of course the hitting has slown down (which was only a matter of time).

Have his teams ever played this way? I don't think they're unable to do it, they just don't do it. And it's ridiculous that they don't.

Agreed, next key change for the Jays is to get a new Manager (next season). Cito is a good guy but a change is needed.

He's a good motivational manager but really he's lost touch with the basics. Half the time he looks like he's going to fall asleep in the dugout.

Some of the decisions (or non-decisions) he's made of late have been baffling.
