I love these other teams possibly coming on board - Langley, Kelowna, Saskatoon, Windsor, etc. . . . . Love seeing the options out there to grow the game in non-mature Canadian markets.

Langley next year.
Saskatoon and Windsor have teams approved, but are light years from getting anything together.
Kelowna is rumoured as potentially the next city who will actually have a team playing.
Quebec has absolutely nothing in the works currently.

Where did this Kelowna rumour come from?
Have been saying for a couple years amongst my friends that Kelowna would be an ideal market for soccer.

I have a few good friends with the Cavs & Foothills. Heard it direct from one of them on the weekend.

I agree about Kelowna. The city itself has grown so much in recent years, and they could potentially draw from Penticton and Vernon as well. Fairly affluent population, not much else for spectator sports, especially in the summer.
Despite being a smaller market, I think that they'd do well.

Apparently The wider Kelowna metropolitan area has a population of 222,748. Seems like it could work.

360,000 in the Okanagan, and Kamloops is two hours away.

Would love a name like Lake Country FC or Lake Country United; captures the wider net of the Okanagan. Bad ass sounding name too.

^^Would negate the timeless rivalry between Vernon and Kelowna too!

I've heard the rumours as well.
As with every club, if there is a good ownership group, stadium, corporate support and supporters group the club can succeed. Right now I would say none of those things are in place, although I've heard rumours of the ownership group and if they are accurate that part should be taken care of.
I can say a supporters bus through wine country would do well though....

Roadtripping to Kelowna for Cavs games would be AWESOME. Looks like I'll be in Kelowna more going forward if this happens!
Now to find out who the ownership group may be so I can start laying some foundations for getting the stadium work, haha...

An owner and a stadium is all any city in this country needs in order to get a CPL team. It's the reason there's no team yet in Quebec.

How about a combination hockey arena, field house and soccer stadium?

This article doesn't paint a pretty picture of the situation in Edmonton going forward.
https://edmontonsun.com/sports/socce...uture-in-doubt
Quote:
A good crowd came out to watch the match, but a large section were Cavalry supporters who made the trip to Edmonton.
“If anybody is watching, come buy this club,” Koch said in his post-game interview. “There are a lot of good people who are working hard and you can see the community is waiting to jump on this. We have people that are very, very loyal to what people are doing here. Hopefully, things will go in a positive way and hopefully it’s sometime soon.”

That is heartbreaking. I suspect there were buyers sniffing around but didn't pull the trigger.
I really want to see football work in Edmonton, and I know it can - there's a lot of love for the game, they just need to have a committed owner with a realistic business model.
Maybe the Foot Soldiers should buy a majority stake in the team

That is tough to read. How much are they trying to sell it for? Would they take an offer for essentially nothing as long as the new owner would cover the operating costs and everything going forward? CP group buy?

Just spitballing, but the Katz Group isn't interested? They have the resources and marketing power to see this the franchise succeed. Maybe they already looked and passed on this.

Was going to say this. They could combine marketing efforts and easily grow the club. Grassroots soccer in Edmonton is very strong.
