The Dolphins pulled out because they didn't want to do a deal until the allegations and punishment around Watson were resolved.
To me this would be akin to Vegas or Calgary not wanting to do a deal until the surgery was performed and the health issue was resolved. Doesn't sound like that is the case.

Yeah seemed more like a fan who wants his team to go get Eichel and is yelling it out loud

The last time I was this dead set against a trade before it Happened.... was for Dougie Hamilton.
All of you "Sell the farm for Eichel" folk should rejoice.

Could we be in a situation where all three teams are involved? Monahan ending up in Vegas, with some minor cap retention through Buffalo, but Buffalo getting Brisson from Vegas via Calgary as part of the deal? Conditional picks involved based on games played? That would be really interesting. Something along the lines of...
To Calgary: Eichel
To Vegas: Monahan ($2M retention from Buffalo)
To Buffalo: Valimaki, Zary, Brisson, conditional 1st from Calgary, conditional 2nd from Vegas

Yeah, I have been wondering about just this for a few weeks now. VGK could sure use an upgrade at centre right now. They were absolutely awful last night.

I love Monahan. Truly. But if he had to go anywhere, I'd be happy with Vegas. Vegas is another team i do cheer for

Monahan's stock is quite low at the moment after the last two seasons and surgery. It's unfortunate but teams don't see him as a 30 goal scorer anymore.
Right now they are probably zeroing in on Mangiapane but trading him doesn't help out cap woes since his salary is so low.
Can Lucic actually be waved to the AHL for a time while we move Eichel into LTIR?

Isn't that the definition of trolling?
It was light hearted trolling, doesn't bother me, but it certainly was trolling.

A three-way trade with Vegas is an interesting idea for sure, but it seems really unlikely to me that Vegas would cooperate in any deal that would send Eichel to a division rival. The Flames are already going to be a tough out in the divisional playoffs and adding Eichel to that task for the next 5 years seems like a bad call.

I would suggest Monahan is as risky as Alex Tuch (the rumoured roster player in the Vegas offer) who is in the midst of 6 month rehab from shoulder surgery

With the way the Vegas salary situation stacks up, Eichel doesn't make sense. Monahan at $4.375M does. Was working the numbers back and forth, and with the exception of Buffalo making the cap floor, this almost works. Flames have to move $2M to make it work, which could be an administrative assignment of Zadorov to the minors until Eichel is officially on LTIR. I think that works based on what we're moving and bringing in.

I don't think any of us have a clue about how teams view Sean Monahan. Over the course of the last few games he sure does look like he is progressing back to his former 25/25 self.

I'm pretty sure Gary Roberts had much more severe issues than Eichel as it relates to nerve damage compared to the disk problems here. The concern is way overblown with something that is by no means a "risky" procedure, especially when being done on an elite athlete.

Agreed. I think the reasons this deal has been taking so damn doing is in part because of Buffalo's intractability, but also because this is going to be a crazy complicated deal when it is finally done. There will need to be a whole bunch of moving parts for them to pull it off.

Monahan might be the most anti Vegas Knights player in the entire league. I don't see a fit for them to "upgrade" by adding a has been with the footspeed of an elite beer league player and the price tag of a top 6 player.
