If it was a Frolik or Neal, maybe a young D and a 2nd, yeah, do it.

Andersson or Valimaki, hard no.

Taking back a forward with salary would be a must.

Also, this assumes a re-sign. Not interested in a rental

Weird that he didn't show much at NHL.

A part of me hopes that nobody pays the price for Mark Stone and Ottawa is stuck with a dead asset at the end of the year. That franchise is going to suck for the next decade.

I'd love to know what the Flames ARE willing to part with to get Stone.

If this is the ask i'm good. We should of went for Hayes, Zucc or someone else now everyone else has loaded up at a reasonable price and the Flames appear to be stuck holding the bag or staying pat. I would give up and go for Granlund instead personally. The young D are a non starter for me. They can have Dube.

In a reasonable world,

1st
Conditional 1st (Re-sign or win Cup)
Frolik
Phillips

Default McKenzie: dealbreaker for Flames is that Sens want Valimaki in Stone package

I’d rather have Dube than a rental, Flames came into the deadline in a position of strength. The roster has no glaring needs outside the up and down goalie situation which is on the upswing. Yes the Flames have assets but these assets could have way more value as the flames need to supplement their roster with cheap contracts going forward.

I suspect we would all support a trade at that price? Unfortunately I think another team will offer more.

Hell I'd do that trade even if Phillips was upgraded to Dube. Asking for valimaki is unreasonable though. I hope we can find middle ground by noon!

Why is everyone this year so eager to get rid of Frolik?

He's a great player, puts up points at important moments.

He's the kind of guy that you find on winning rosters.

Well he had a great pre-season but 99% of prospects need AHL seasoning. The jump from WHL to NHL is massive

No one else is willing to give up a prospect the quality of Valimaki either, hence why this deal hasn't been done.

I'd think that we still have the most appealing deal on the table, and that when push comes to shove and Ottawa gets this down to the wire - it'll be the Calgary deal, and it'll still be a hell of a haul for Ottawa it just won't include Vali.

I hope nobody pays the price and then suddenly Calgary pays a smaller price right at the end. I don't care about the lack of success of others (Edmonton notwithstanding) I care about the success of the Flames.

This is his first pro season. I thought he looked just fine for a rookie. At the time, head to head against more experienced guys like Czarnik and Mangiapane, he was as good. He was snakebit for a while, too. He had a spell where he had lots of close in chances but they didn't go in.

Good speed, decent offensive instincts, plays C, his defence is pretty good, has leadership qualities.

Stone would be nice, but I agree the Ottawa's price is too high.

I am disappointed we didn't get Hayes in lieu of Stone, but not upset. I like the forwards and defense as the are. Bolstering would be nice, but not at any cost.

Let them.

If a team like Nashville swoops in and opts to include Tolvanen, all the power to them.
