I'm not sure why I expected anything different in this season opener.
It's inexcusable how they are never ready for the first game.

Another bad period by the Flames, although they were better in the second half of that period.
Flames need to pick it up significantly in the third if they want to not be embarrassed in yet another season opener.

I don't get it either. Every single season is the same story. Completely outplayed in the opening game.

As slanted as the ice is towards the Oilers, incredibly tight game. Smith is answering all the concerns. What killed the Flames a bunch last year was conceding too many early (1st period) leads and trying to scramble back into the game usually down by a couple of goals. Looks like Smith will at the very least keep the team in it most nights.
Bright side, after 2 periods the Flame are still in it. Man we need more offense. Jagr and Janko and what else treliving ha up his sleeve cannot get into the line up fast enough.
