Goalie rumours still seem odd. Smokescreen or fire?

Wouldn't be surprised at all to see us trade a roster player for some picks.

Wideman, Jones, Raymond, Bollig, Hiller* (if we acquire another goalie first) are all guys I could see moved.

Don't think Hudler's on the block, maybe at the deadline if he gets traded at all this year.

I think Wideman, given his fantastic year and pending contract situation, are all but gone after the Hamilton move. When, not sure.

Don't think Treliving is done trading, but not sure if any trades will get them back into R1 tonight, so maybe he holds off, unless the other team needs to make moves within the first round, and the Flames trade would be the first domino.

Wideman for a first would be some shrewd work. I think he's the likely mover because Russell/Hamilton should be a fine pairing and Wideman makes more money.

IMO it was smokescreen since they ended up using those 2 seconds for Talbot.

Helped drive price up on Oilers, and distracted everyone from the fact they were chasing Hamilton aggressively.

With this Flames management group I feel like anything that leaks, is likely going to be by design.

Boston offers picks 13, 14, 15, and Rask to EDM for first overall? How much + is needed?

This is just for fun speculation.

None. Edmonton is too bitter about the Hamilton ordeal.

Pastarnak probably.

teams that have picks in the 20's

21 - Ottawa
22 - Washington
23 - Vancouver
24 - Toronto
25 - Winnipeg
26 - Montreal
27 - Anaheim
28 - Tampa
29 - Philadelphia
30 - Arizona

Bolded are teams that I think could use a D-man of Wideman's calibre, although I'm not too sure about MTL.

Remember Wideman has a full NTC. He may be willing to waive it now that he has been pushed down the depth chart, but getting approval from him in a timely manner (i.e. before the late 1st round) might be difficult.

I still want wideman here. Huge shot and can play in more sheltered minutes. Could have another huge offensive year.

Mike Halford @HalfordPHT Can't get a clear pic, but Roy and the entire Avs group is huddled around Sakic right now. Sakic was just at Buffalo table.

The Russell Wideman pairing worked so well that i'm more inclined to split Brodie and Gio than I am the first two.

Setting Russell and Wideman up as a second pairing with advantageous assignments could be an offensive dynamo for us.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Carolina has offers on the table for Jeff Skinner but don't think they feel they're good enough....

It really didn't. It was nice to see Russell blocking shots and Wideman scoring goals but it wasn't a great pairing objectively. Russell-Hamilton should have way more potential, as should Schlemko-Wideman.

Giordano is going to get 24-25 mins, Hamilton will get 23-24 minutes, Brodie will get 23-24 minutes. Now you are running out of minutes...

I would be totally fine if Treliving were to move next year's 1st + + for another young piece (18-24 age range) to add to the Flames core, hopefully another top four D man or filling our highly needed top six right winger position

well, they played 30 minutes a game over the last 20, increased their offensive output, their defensive game, and lead the team in the first round victory over the Canucks.

i'd say it worked just fine.

Would love to see the Flames sneak into the 1st round somehow. It's probably more emotions then smarts but love seeing a Flames player walking to the podium for the Flames, putting on a jersey.

Do it for the scouts, Treliving!
