I was reading the general HF thread about this series and I found these particularly interesting quotes:
Quote:
What is going on with the fans in Calgary? Friend of mine took her son to the game (Canucks fan) last night and he was berated to tears, spat on, and had beer dumped on him. HE'S 11!!! She herself was pushed and shoved while going to the bathroom and they ended up leaving early and wasting their money and the poor kid never wants to go to another game.
Friends posting photos on FB of getting sucker punched on the streets for wearing a jersey...
I've watched hockey 30+ years and been in several buildings playoff time and have never heard of fans being so aggressive and going so crazy on little kids and women.
I understand the hate for the Canucks, but some of these fans need to relax and realize it's just a game...
Anyway, I know it's not the average poster here doing it, just unsettling as I've always had a nice experience in Calgary.

Team 1040 guys are saying they Havnt seen so muvh vitriol and violence towards other fans like this in calgary. Saying it's worse then Boston in the finals .
If this is really happening I hope they start throwing these punks out of the saddledome. We don't need our fans disrespecting other fans, it is just a game. I find this really hard to believe that this kind of thing is happening to this extent, but maybe some of the CPers out there have witnessed similar things at the game last night.

Not saying the above didn't happen but I was at game in second bowl and there was no drama whatsoever. Even Flames and nuck fans high fiving each other. Lots of good old heckling but didn't hear anything over the top.

I don't believe that story. No one would pick on an 11 year old. I saw no harassment of canucks fans last night, even in the smoking pits.

That 11 year old was being a real piece of garbage.

I am a season ticket holder and I go to almost every game and of course I was at last nights game. I have to honestly say I have never seen incidents like those being reported here because frankly I wouldn't stand for it, especially where children are involved. I'm having a hard time believing it. Was it just pure luck that I saw nothing out of the norm last night and the norm being respectable behaviour (for the most part).
I normally take my own son to games and if I saw things like this happening, I would have to rethink that because it is unacceptable. If these incidents really happened, take it to law enforcement, not your social media page.

I don't understand why some canucks fans refer to Ferland as a scrub. The guy is a lot more than that and his draft position should not matter.
This guy scored a lot in the dub. In fact he had better numbers than Horvat.
I guess his role on the Flames right now is different, but he's only played here a handful of games.
I just think it's ignorant. Ferland can become a great NHLer. 20G guy with an edge. Hardly a scrub.
Makes me really sick to read that, up the police presence in the next game and arrest all people who are fighting, don't throw them out, charge them.
There are idiot fans in every fanbases, we know this, its nothing to be proud of, you're not defending anyones honor.
Ya, that is likely a better plan for fighting or taking things too far. Some people on HF are saying this sort of behaviour was happening all over the dome last night. I just find that hard to believe. Maybe an isolated incident and some drunk baboons up in the bleeders. Who knows but I hope these sorts of stories end for the game tonight and moving forward.

I totally understand it. If there was a random 5th round rookie that most hadn't heard of until he started getting under the skin of the Flames, Flames fan would be calling him a nobody scrub as well. That's part of the beauty of Ferland right now, nobody except fans who were watching our prospects since junior had any idea that Ferland could have this much impact.
Hopefully they up the police presence at these games so these events don't happen as often. Obviously they can't stop everything but that is unacceptable behaviour too bad they got away with it.
Lol at this comment below the article though.

If any of that is true, that's absolutely shameful. No 11 year old kid deserves to have beer poured on him and brought to tears. That kind of behaviour is disgusting and whoever did it is a disgrace. Same as people getting sucker punched for wearing the oppositions jersey. Grow up people, this isn't European football.
I have no issues with friendly ribbing, but when the altercations become physical, it's ridiculous. We're better than that.
I highly doubt that happened, not only because I didn't see anything even remotely close to that last night, but because people wouldn't stand for it. Someone would have reported them and confronted them to protect the child.
I have a hard time believing the story about the 11 year old. I wouldn't put it past canuck fans to put inflammatory lies up on fb or wherever. This is the same fan base that burns their own city down over a game, there is no benefit of the doubt to be given here just because some anonymous person says it's true . Need some actual proof here as something like this is actually newsworthy if true.
