It's a moot point, but given that he started playing when he was 18, wouldn't that put him in the 7 year rule category (hence UFA eligible by 25 or in 3 years)?

I'm pretty glad they matched, this team is not good enough to take the gamble they just took IMO. Not for a guy who had his Breakout playing with a Calder winning beast.
I just pray that that was their gamble and they're not intent on trading that pick. Feaster scares me man.
I'd like to see them move someone out for another first and try to move up with the two firsts and draft Lindholm around 5 or 6. I think he'll be great.

How does a team go from thinking he's not worth $4.5 million to paying him $6.5 million next year? I chose that they would match and part of that was they did not want him going to a team in the division and possible egg on their face if they had to face him 6 times a season to rub it on if he pans out.

Sure but I was talking about age being playing ability not ever about contract status.
