Well keep in mind a minimum protection is 5 guys plus the QB....so that leaves a total of 5 eligible receivers that you can deploy. Whereas the defence can drop as many into coverage as they like. So really its 6 vs 3 at the line so the defence will have 3 more guys in the endzone vs. the offence. Once that throw is made...the guys playing in the middle have time to move over. So the hail mary is always going to be outnumbered whether it's 7 on 4 or 5 on 2.

That picture is quite a bit before the picture you are refering to, and the play is already dead is the picture I just posted. Tate has one hand in the area where the ball is, and we know from various other replays that his other arm is the one that has been touching/grabbing the ball the whole time - and again from replays, we know is probably gripping the ball at that point.
The picture that Rubecube posted is really irrelevant to the discussion. That picture is at least a roll of Jennings after the play is dead, according to NFL rules.
I don't think its irrelevant at all. Wayne Lavarrive is the Packers play by play guy and he tweeted the explanation he was given by the referee. He was told that the referee ruled that Jennings had initial possession but that a catch is not complete until they hit the ground and they ruled that when they hit he ground he was tied up with Tate and therefore simultaneous possession was ruled. Althought if you look at the photo below, when Jennings actually make contact with the ground you can clearly see that Tate does not have possession of the ball he is simply wrapped around jennings chest. While on the ground Tate gains possession of the ball and that appears to be what the side judge saw which is wrong as per the NFL's definition of simultaneus catch. The replay official is the one who made the final call and he is not a replacement he is an NFL official. But based on the NFL's own rules, explanation, the explanation of the referee, and the photo evidence its crystal clear the wrong call was made.
As NFL network said multiple times last night, if the call on the field was ruled an interception do you think they would have overturned it and made it a touchdown based on the evidence? Because according to the NFL the right call was made so that means that had it been an interception they would have overturned it and made it a touchdown and I don't think anyone would honestly say that was the case. The NFL is just trying to cover up their own butt and sweep this under the rug as quickly as possible.

Great post, and not because i think any specific interpretations weren't followed, but because (and i qualify this as JMO) i saw what happened with my own two eyes. I saw the replay with the same.

And as a guy that has followed several sports very closely for over 40 years as both a fan and more, even when you see something that can be sluffed off as a correct interpretation to a technical level, but it's still completely wrong......... it's still wrong.
Last night things went far beyond even that though.The sequence of events were nothing ever before seen in the NFL....ever.......EVER.
It saddens me as a massive NFL fan in particular, but as a sports fan in general.
The thing is though, the only real way for us as fans to make an impact is to stop watching. The NFL knows we aren't going to do that. Fantasy players and gamblers alone make up at least half of all NFL TV audiences, and they aren't going anywhere. The rest of us, the actual fans of the game first, are also not going anywhere because this is still real football that counts, regardless of the quality of officiating. In fact I expect ratings this week will be even higher than usually as people look for more potential disasters.

I have friends who are degenerate gamblers who are pulling their money due to the massive uncertainty this is bringing to games.
I was at the game and Century Link was wild (as usual) through the game and bedlam at the last play and in the aftermath. I think most of the fans at the venue thought it was a clean (and unbelievably lucky) catch once confirmed by the video review team. Once at the bar to see replays I was shocked to see that the play was so obviously not a legit touchdown. Major gift to the Seahawks. (Like Trout said, however, this does nothing to heal the rip job from the 2006 Superbowl). What unfortunately has been lost in the controversy of the last play is that the Seahawks played a masterful game on defense and deserved to win this game as much as GB. Rodgers was sacked 8 times and the Packers had something like 100 yards net offence in the first half. Rodgers spent the entire first half on his ass in the offensive backfield and was unable to open his play book really at all. The drive that resulted in GB's single touchdown was kept alive by a dubious PI call. It's a shame that the final play has overshadowed everything else of significance that occurred in the game. Seahawks won a game that they shouldn't have due to a critcal botched call but they didn't win a game that they didn't deserve to win based on how they played. If the ball was swatted away on the last play of the game I would have gone home thinking the Packers stole one due to the marginal PI call in the third quarter.
