That was Apple's response to the problem, a somewhat wise one at that. Initially it was believable because AT&T does indeed have horrible service in many areas.

Had an idea!

And the response was a lie.
Granted, AT&T does have horrible service.

Anyone been to a Bell store today?
Need to get a sim card and was thinking of heading to the cross iron mills location, but if it's a zoo I'll skip it.

Either way, the real test (like it should have been from the beginning) is whether the phone drops calls or not. And they're saying what, only 1 per 100 more than the 3GS? So be it.
Until the day the newest Android phones are released within a reasonable timeframe to Canada, these things will continue to sell like hotcakes. One day people will see the light.

Android phones will be obsolete by the end of 2010.

I use an HTC HD2 as well as a 3GS. I cannot live without TweetDeck on the iPhone and it is not yet on Android. I also much prefer podcasts on the iPhone to any other device.

It's not a daily or even weekly switch. Only started back up using my HD2 because of the great progress with the Android build, hadn't used it for a couple months prior.

Ha! I was at Shawnessy too. I got the 6th or 7th last phone. I was hope they can unmelt Rogers servers and get our phones working. I tried to phone them and inquire, but no one answered.

Did anyone happen to ask when stores might get another shipment?

Oh look, I can't get my phone to move from 5 bars no matter how I hold it.
Kinda puts a dent into the argument that the problem happens everywhere.
It's simple. The bars represent signal strength. Holding the phone in the death grip will knock 10-20 dB off your signal strength. If you are starting at -60, you are fine. If you are starting at -110, you'll drop the call.

The girl working at the Rogers store said they had no idea. She said they didn't get their stock for today till this morning.

I think it would be interesting if the people making these videos would make phone calls while performing the death grip. The number of bars isn't as tangible as a dropped call.

Yup, the anandtech article I posted said that while the signal drop for the iPhone 4 in a "death grip" is greater than for the other phones they tested (the other phones still went down), the iPhone 4 was better at retaining calls in lower signal strength circumstances than the previous iPhones.
