Friday is a big day for Flame vs Flame prospects action...

In the NCAA, Boston College (Gaudreau, Arnold) visits Providence (Gillies, Jankowski, Gilmour) for their second meeting of the season at 5:00 MT. BC won their first encounter 5-2 three weeks ago in Boston.

In the QMJHL, Gatineau (Poirier) visits Drummondville (Culkin) at 5:00 MT on Sportsnet.

In the WHL, Vancouver (Kulak) visits Victoria (Kanzig) at 8:00 MT.

Also, if you're in Calgary and want to see a prospect live in action, Eric Roy's Brandon Wheat Kings are at the Saddledome to play the Hitmen at 7:00 MT.

Jon Gillies does something not many goalies have been able to do this season. He kept the Arnold-Gaudreau-Hayes line off the score sheet in the first period.

0-0 after 1 in Providence.

For only the fifth time this season, Gaudreau's name is not on the score sheet after two periods.

BC got one past Gillies in the second, and lead 1-0 after 2.

Gaudreau leads the game in shots at 5. Arnold and Gilmour each have 1 shot and Jankowski has 2. Both Arnold (10-10) and Jankowski (7-7) are 50% in the dot.

The only BC player I wanted to see score tonight. He finally scores on his 6th shot of the game.

21 game point streak.

It sounds like Gillies is having a strong game.

The score sheet has it as unassisted right now, but they often add them after the period ends.

They have two games against U Mass-Lowell at the end of February. Lowell has the lowest GA in Hockey East, so that's the most likely team to hold him off the score sheet.

So far, he has only been held point less in one game this season, and that was against top-ranked Minnesota.

Highlights from BC @ PC (weird background audio about sex crimes and DNA during the coach's press conference)...

Gillies with a strong game it looked like. Not the prettiest goal that Johnny has scored this year, but they all count.

Gillies looked really good. Definitely not easy to shut down BC.

I was expecting a garbage goal or one that bounced off his arse or something, that was a nice snip.

Good point. It wasn't garbage by any means. I guess my expectations are too high.

Brett Kulak with 1A and a +4 in Vancouver's 5-4 Shootout win over Victoria. Kanzig with no points and even +/-.

Klimchuk with 2A and a +3 and 6 PIM in Regina's 6-0 win over Saskatoon.

Gordan with zeros across the board in Swift Current's 4-3 win over Medicine Hat.

Roy had a goal but Brandon fell to the Hitmen 7-4.

Poirier was +2 with no points, and Culkin had 1G/2A in Drummondville's 6-5 shootout win over Gatineau.

Kenny Agostino had 10 shots, no points, and was a -2 in Yale's 3-2 OT loss to Cornell.

Harrison had no points and was -2 in Colgate's 5-2 loss to Brown.

DeBlouw did not play yet again (has not played since January 10).

The other day, the Flames put up an interview with Westgarth talking about Shnarped, which is a hockey-specific social media app that was created by a couple of his teammates from College and which he has some role with.

http://www.shnarped.com/

It's actually a really good way to keep track of the prospects. You have to add them each individually, but once you have, it updates your news feed with the player's stats for each game.

It's a nice one-stop shop for tracking these guys rather than looking up all the scores separately. Definitely worth the download if you have an iPhone or Android.

For example, I was able to see that there was more Flame vs Flame action on Saturday:

Vancouver played Victoria in the WHL. Victoria won 3-2, Kulak had 1A and was a -1, Kanzig was even with no points.

Colgate played Yale in the NCAA. Yale won 4-1, Harrison had 4 shots and was a -1, Agostino had 2A and 5 shots.

Agreed, it's a great app.
