The first act has some interesting moments where the two leads are trying to work out what each other wants sexually, but it happens in fits and starts and with some genuine awkwardness. That was cool, but then it devolved into a standard affair storyline, with some political overtones that felt like hack writing.
She wanted sexy stuff and left disappointed. I wanted a story and some sort of interesting character work, and was left wanting. 5/10.
Also, just an utterly odd film to release at Christmas time. I cannot figure out the decisions behind this movie.

Unlike Baby Girl, Nosferatu delivers on the sexy stuff.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was a banger. Best of the series so far, Jim Carrey kills it and there's way less dumb human drama than the other two.
We watched Meg 2: The Trench in the evening yesterday and it was a step down from the first one. First half was in 'The Trench' and very uninteresting / dull. The second half when they returned to the surface was much better, just became a zany giant shark movie again (which was the expectation).

Also watched Babygirl and mostly agree with Cali.. no idea how the movie gets that high a rating.
But man Kidman is hot.

I definitely enjoyed this the most out of the three movies.
I didn't laugh at all I think for the first two, but there were some legitimately funny moments in this one.

I want to see Sonic 3 as the trailer sold me (unlike 1 and 2).
Is it a must to see the first two?

Sort of? Plot-wise they do kind of assume you've seen the first two and just roll with that but it's nothing a functional adult won't be able to figure out, it is aimed at kids after all. Reading a plot synopsis would probably suffice.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, despite playing the hell out of the Sonic games when I was a kid I haven't seen any of the movies and have no desire to. Not even saying it's beneath me, I watch tons of garbage and almost all the animated stuff. I can't believe these movies were even green lit or made money for that matter.

I'm in this boat too. I had a Sega Genesis as a kid. Sonic 2 was one of 3-4 games. We played the crap out of that. And by all accounts these movies are actually pretty good. But for some reason I'm just not interested.

I did take my kids.
Probably would've gone by myself though, let's be honest.

I was the same until I saw the trailer for the latest one.
There was enough there to grab me. Keanu reeves, some favorite characters and looks like peak Jim Carrey of old.

I also took my kids, but I would never have bothered with the Sonic films as an adult.
I'll say this, they're way better than I expected, and Sonic 3 is a good movie for kids. It's not a great movie overall though. It's hokey and full of simple conflicts. The motivations and backstory of characters is thin at best. There's very little rhyme or reason for why things are happening on screen, but they're happening anyways.
Which is fine, again, it's for kids. It doesn't need to be complicated, just fun, which it certainly is.
I will say that Carrey is pretty great in all 3 movies. Weird and funny, and he puts a lot of effort into a role when a lot of other actors are just there to get a paycheck.

I liked Oliver Stone’s JFK. Hadn’t seen it in a while. His conspiracy theories are a bit out there but regardless, it’s a solid movie.
Except Joe Pesci. That might be some of the worst casting of all time. He did not fit that part.

And this is the impression I get from the outside.
As someone that ate up Ace Ventura, the Grinch and (to a lesser extent) Dumb and Dumber, I'm here for Jim bringing his best to an outlandish role.

Just watched Casino - my daughter and I are on a Scorsese binge. I can’t see Pesci as anything but a deranged mobster.

I was on a bit of a Coppola binge, wondering if he peaked with Godfather and Apocalypse Now. Some movies, like “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” were so awful.

No way, Bram Stoker’s Dracula is a lot of fun.
The in-camera effects are great! The movie doesn't come together ultimately, but it's still an entertaining watch and a feat of directing to make the shots work.

I think my main complaint is the same reason you liked it. I thought he used way too many effects that were still pretty new at the time and it makes the movie really look really ridiculous by today’s standards, almost Troma-level work. That movie, maybe minus Keanu and the special effects would have been okay.
