If it is their 23 1st and Pinto then a 2nd to take Zaitsev I would have interest. Not saying Pinto replaces Lindholm but he could free up the option for the Flames to move one of Lindholm/Backlund instead of re-signing them. I just worry about another huge contract for a 30+ player and we be intrigued to see what the Flames could get for Lindholm in the summer.
I don’t see Weegar being worth the 10th pick in the draft and Pinto but the 2nd is likely not enough to take Zaitsev so maybe it works there?

Crazy how quickly fans have flipped on Huberdeau and Weegar. Unless the Flames are going full rebuild, you have to find complimentary pieces for these two, not cast them away. Or hire a Joel Quennville.

I haven't flipped on anyone but it's pretty clear this roster clearly isn't good enough. They can't score enough goals to compete with the elite teams of the league. Teams aren't going to give the Flames their top prospects or high draft picks for the Flames junk. The Flames will have to part with some good players to bolster their scoring. Weegar is an advanced stats darling but I wouldn't say I have been overwhelmed by his play. He seems good enough to not be noticed in most games and when he is noticeable it's when he commits a major mistake which he has been known to do at times. Not a guy that is irreplaceable IMO especially if Kylington returns.

Weegar Tanev
Should be the top 4 d core. Zadorov is a nice complimentary piece but isnt a top 4 if they want to contend. Kylington returning definitely helps but moving Weegar is going to leave a massive hole on the backend. Gilbert, Stone, Mackey can be rotated in as number 6 but outside of injuries you dont want 2 of them being in the lineup at the same time.

Tanev should be moved if anyone as he has limited miles left on his body

Great point, could be a huge add for a cup contender for this year and next as well

For me, I have not flipped on either of them. Personally I think Weegar has been a great fit! His salary might be a touch to high but that’s the only complaint I could come up with for him.
Everyone agrees that Huberdeau has been a let done. I think this is in part to do with Coaching and needing a little more speed on his line!
If the Flames could somehow trade Weegar for DeBrincat and then make a move for Chychrun with Arizona retaining some salary then this would be a huge win for CGY. Throw in Quenneville as you suggested!
Super unrealistic!

I think Weeger has been very solid and good overall. The thing is the occasional time he messes up it's usually a big one.
Which to be fair is kind of this team in general. See Also: How I play NHL23

Dreger saying he thinks Treliving is pursuing Josh Anderson and Montreal should be asking for Pelletier.

That is a worst case scenario for me. Would completely ruin my perception of Tre.

I can't see the Flames selling. I expect them to try to bring in a veteran with playoff history. Sutter is here to win, he's not going to accept any re-tools or moves for futures, and he has the clout within the organization to dictate the direction. They went all in in the summer and I think they stick with it. "Get in the playoffs and anything can happen" is always the mantra, I don't think they are thinking any differently.

Are we getting that 1st back we traded Monahan with? Otherwise, this is stupid.

It may also be as simple as him looking at his prospects to be in the NHL sooner. Anaheim has a lot of young D in the system, Mintyukov, Zellweger, Hinds, Helleson, Andersson and they signed Juolevi. Maybe he is angling for a team who will play him asap.

If the Flames trade prospects and/or picks for Anderson I’m done as a fan. There’s only so much stupid you can take.

Friedman on the Marek Show just a few minutes ago saying things are heating up on Gavrikov. Usually when he says something like that a deal (despite his denial its imminent) is imminent. No teams mentioned however.

He's definitely in the "broken clock still right twice a day" classification of insiders
