Good use of Chicago weaponizing its cap space.
They have a ton of very good defence prospects.
And so much cap space they can certainly add some premium UFA’s.
Pretty good for a contract most of us thought untradable.

I'm happy Vladar had a good showing in Florida. Maybe his stellar performance wasn't all for nothing.

If the Flames were calling about Jones, the only logical reason in my mind for trying to find a RHS like that is to prepare for life without Rasmus.

Be the best poker player in the room and convince all GM’s you will only move for a haul and get that haul.

Whatever happened to the Zegras rumours? At this point, I wonder if he can be had for a lot less than initially thought.

If Vladar is going to be moved, maybe to the Panthers, wonder if it happens after the Carolina game today? Flames are off till Tuesday when they play Philly, couple of days for Cooley to join the flames if Vladar is moved.

Yea. A lot of posters aren’t realizing that the reason Chicago got that return is because of eating $12 million.
That said I would still trade Anderson. Granted I’m on the side that extending Anderson would be a big mistake.

Andersson will fetch the same return. His contract is easy to absorb for any team and if we eat half that would allow the team taking him on to go out and get other pieces.
Colorado cleared up cap space and filled holes. I see a situation like that.

Jones will still get paid $7.125M per season for 5 more years. Chicago looks at this as getting away from $35M plus that they don't have to pay.

Oilers looking at potentially trading Evander Kane. Have to think they would have to attach a sweetener to any team would you not think?
I wouldn’t be opposed to taking him on for the cost of the Oilers 2027 1st round pick. That could be a good one. He could potentially be turned into an asset at next year trade deadline to get a good return with retention

No way, I would not want Evander Kane anywhere the Flames for any cost. Nope, no sir no way. I'd rather have Marchand and I hate that player.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near our locker rooms. Not with the Flames and not with the Wranglers.
The 1st round pick wouldn't be worth it to help out the Oilers or to take on that POS. It would need to be multiple 1sts.

I think that the league has figured out that he is a cancer. Oiler for life.

Someone will probably bite on Kane, could see the Blackhawk’s perhaps. Maybe get a good sweetener and send Alec Martinez back with retention.

Since the Oilers aren’t trading for a goalie they must be petitioning the league to reinstate Carter Hart so they can sign him.

Not really, as without retention, he had negative value.
The retention brought his AAV down to a level that made a trade viable.
If Jones had a 5 year deal at $7M I expect the return would have been the same. Which means the amount the Hawks ate was not calculated into the return.
