You guys know the new arena isn’t up yet, right?

Also, the building funding was announced over a year ago and all the agreements were finalized almost a year ago and they planned everything to have the groundbreaking a week after the end of the Stampede, and have actually been doing prep work around the site for months already.

It goes back a few years prior, with the stampede grounds doing a few huge improvements to their in house utilities (this also coincided with the BMO convention center).

Hahaha love that! I'll email my connections at Dialog/HOK and ask them to sneak in Scorch easter eggs throughout the arena design. In absence of a 50-foot-tall Scorch statue out front of Scotia Place, this will be the next best thing.

That really gives you perspective on how much bigger this is going to be than the Saddledome.

Drove past yesterday and was surprised to see how much site prep was done already. I'm excited to see the progress!
I work a few blocks away, so I might have to run over at lunch every few weeks to watch the progress!

Project is already a failure. If you can't do a proper time lapse of them stripping back asphalt parking lots how are you going to build a major project like this? For shame!

I’m going to start going down there and taking pictures at least once a week, in the coming months.

This would actually be incredibly awesome. Like Disneyland with hidden mickeys everywhere.

Taken from this document on the city's project site: https://www.calgary.ca/content/dam/w...ief-public.pdf
Still no full floor plans, but a little bit more information in there.

The faux wood knot waves along the roof line look very femine. The Calgary ###eenodrome.
