If the Stampede horses get to drink water, so should my lawn.

Otherwise I'm gonna start eating horse meat to make up for it.

I would think a lot of Stampede water usage could be handled by some pumps to the river. All the cleaning, animal usage, Nashville North...easy swap to river water. I'd think.

I don't like the Stampede, but I understand and respect it's importance to this City in many ways. If other people like it then they can fill their boots thats great.
Have they shared that data with the public?... that smells very much like something that might have gotten juiced in some manner of decision-based evidence making exercise (or maybe that's just the smell of reduced showers).

People do that often and politicians do that all the time.

It doesn’t seem unreasonable that 10% of calgarians are on vacation for those 10 days of summer to balance it out. You also have to consider that Hotel capacity is fixed and that those 138k might average 3-5 days each so the real impact is half that number

According to this in June Calgary runs about 75% of hotel capacity

https://economicdashboard.alberta.ca...ccupancy-rate/

And this says we only have 15,000 hotel rooms

Sorry...I read this and figured the debate was effectively resolved.

No, we require access to the hourly raw data streams and historical data from 2014 onwards in JSON or a relational database so we can update our Spotfire projects for analysis. First we create descriptive analytics dashboards and then we build our model to perform predictive analytics.

Only then we will we be convinced that Stampede can happen!

There also is a chance that the water main will be fixed and running by then.

Pipe already drained, location of work already known, supplies here or with known delivery dates, roads closed, shovels in the ground .... it is not unrealistic this could be wrapped up in 10 days.

Ya, with 17 days their is a chance, but who knows what other issues they may run into once it's re-pressurized.

So why not just post numbers to back it? When they want people to conserve we get served up with numbers so I don't see any reason why they couldn't have provided numbers to avoid speculation.

Guys...guys...we are not asking the right questions here.

What we really want to know is...before they seal the pipe up can Calgarians slide through it like at a Water-Park?

Like...have an open day...bring a tube?

Didn't Fuzz post a graph of water use by month a few days ago? I looked and couldn't find it, but that should show how much of a bump we get during Stampede...

Maybe nuance isn't the exact perfect word...but that all just kinda sounds like nuance (ie. a whole bunch of details that people don't always consider).

Going back to the topic of conserving water, I just found out today that running the dishwasher on the shorter cycle actually uses more water; not less. Here I had been doing the quick wash to cut back a little.

2. Quick Wash Cycle

Using more water, energy and heat for fast results, a quick wash cycle, sometimes called a 1-Hour Wash, can be completed in around an hour depending on your dishwasher model.

Here’s a F you I wanna hand out today. F you to Earls restaurants. Earls is stepping up in a big way by no longer offering water from the tap but you’re welcome to pay for bottled water.

We can use water to wash our dishes and make our food, oh but you want to drink some for free?? Yeah we’re conserving that water.

Pricks.

Even the eternally-negative Rick Bell is saying he thinks it will done by Canada Day in his column today.

As we've seen in the past, nothing can make this city move faster than a threat to the Stampede.

Dead serious and almost every table has a bottle, pretty gross profiteering going on. I’m half tempted to order a virgin gin and water.

And the funny thing is, even if the City gets all of the repairs made ahead of schedule, the same doofuses will be crying next time about how the City never does anything right and construction projects are always delayed.

It's good to see that it's not higher than other high months, I have to guess they didn't use the numbers because they are almost double from June even though not related to Stampede*

*Doesn't appear to be a correlation

Yeah I think with all the issues City Hall has had around "effective communication" with this boondoggle, the one lesson they've learned is "Underpromise and overdeliver"

3-5 weeks quoted and they'll be finished in 20 days so we can have the syphilis party
