Take a picture of him J-walking or something and just void his contract. Let him become a UFA and go wherever he wants.
Give him a $10 million dollar severance package and call it a day

The flames overpaid him, he doesn't create his own luck, he deals with pressure poorly, he doesn't respond well to adversity and he doesn't complement any of the other 17 players on the team.
IMO, the only thing that will fix Huby is to trade him to another team where he doesn't have to be a "go to" guy, maybe in a low pressure market and allow him to reset.

He should go to Russia and play in the KHL. Under Putin’s guidance he may become aggressive again.

I hope this is not meant to be serious, although, surprisingly, it’s not the most ridiculous thing here posted.

That isn't happening though. The Flames will transition into a low pressure environment once they sell off the UFAs

Even when they sell everyone else,
1) he's still the go-to guy
2) he's still in a high pressure market
3) he will still struggle with adversity of being on a low talent team
It's just sad to watch and for the sake of his career and mental/emotional well-being, hopefully they can trade him for future considerations.

the pressure will go down...it should anyway

It’s becoming safe to say He will likely never suit up for a playoff game in a Flames jersey.

It is crazy how horrible he has been as a flame. His failure is the main reason the Flames are spiraling into a rebuild. Other UFA’s probably see that contract and know this team is screwed. Maybe if they blow this roster up and add a bunch of new players he will click with someone and maybe become a decent offensive player again?

He is on pace for 38 points and a -71 this season, with absolutely no signs that he is figuring it out. Just let that sink in. It's the same number of points Blake Coleman had last season, but at least Coleman was a +9 and made less than half of what Huberdeau is making now. That projected -71 is -30 worse than the player with the worst +/- last season.
There is no way he can even be trying out there. Players with only a fraction of the skill he has are just as productive just by doing the fundamental things, but he just refuses to do them. No one can tell me that a 30 year old guy who has played the game at the highest level his whole life, can't bear down and just play. He kills every line he goes on.

He’s somehow lost his ability to skate. His passes get predictably picked off and the play goes the other way. It’s a mental issue but he’s not helping himself by skating. Is there a skating coach he can work with? He at times looks like Jagr at the end of his career. Just lobbing around. He’s paid a killing and undoubtedly teammates see the terrible effort and think to themselves they get paid a third of him and do more? He really has to find a way to get better as we have him for the long haul.

Rhett on After Burner tonight tossed out the idea that maybe you need to just bite the bullet and play Huberdeau superstar minutes for a few games, and maybe it lights him up. Make him feel like he is a star player again, and maybe it ignites him. He isn't likely going to turn it around with 12-15 minutes a night.
The problem of course, is that he hasn't earned it either. But maybe it's the chance you take take just to see because they have tried everything else.

You either find a dance partner to get rid of him, create a highly specific device designed to launch him into the Sun or hit him with a C-train....granted that last one would be difficult because he probably doesnt take public transit and it would seem obvious.
Huberdeau has been worse than useless. IDGAF about his presser soundbites about 'having to be better.' You didnt get traded yesterday you've played almost 100 games as a Flame.
The time to 'be better' was a long, long time ago. At the moment I think we'd all take 'not playing like awful sweaty ass' as an improvement.
Give us something. Anything.
I can fire pucks into people's skates and I'll do it for a haircut under $10.5M.

He'll be useful in terms of getting to the salary floor.
Otherwise who cares? The team is rebuilding. It doesn't matter whether he performs or not.
In fact, it's probably better for the org long term if he doesn't.

It still amazes me how many posters felt he’d easily be in the 80+ points club this year. With Sutter gone and a year to adjust, he’d be just fine.

based on his previous years of high level play, it was a reasonable assumption to make.
