Forsberg would be a great addition but I'm not in favor of rentals. So then if you think you can re-sign him how do you create that room.
Big decisions lie ahead.

Haha, good stuff Lanny. Would not have expected less.

IMO you want to debate whether a player was elite, you should start with the HHOF status. Visit the HHOF some time and you will see plaques for a whole bunch of elite players.
Enough time wasted on this needless argument though.

Someone said HOF = elite, and I said “Kevin Lowe”. That was it.

Damn, if true. You roll the dice for a chance at 1C.

I would have traded Tkachuk - mainly because of contract (I’m surprised if Buffalo really asked for him for the same reason). Mangiapane would really tough. It would depend on the other asks, and my sense of his next contract.

I tend to agree. And the risk of Chucky walking sort of reflects the risk of Eichel and his surgery, which would make the trade fair. But that's not something they had to deal with in Vegas so perhaps is another reason why they were a better partner for Buffalo.

Nope. Local boy Tuch is happy to play for his childhood pajama team.

It was Thornton, not Spezza, who Regher was supposed to be part of.
What do you mean they ‘refuse’ to do what it takes? That’s absurd.

This is where you see a bit of politicking in a trade. Can’t trade the franchise piece for pieces that you move for more pieces. They felt the need for some firm players.

Mangiapane has been hot. But hotter than what his mean/average will be. If you could have turned him and a couple prospects into Eichel, that's taking advantage of a players stock when its at its highest.
Only problem with that is the money wouldn't balance.

Yes if Tkachuk or Mangiapane were “untouchables”, that is straight up idiotic.
Depends what the rest of the package is obviously but I think there is some insane bias towards our own players. Again this is Jack Eichel not third line scrub. Understand there is some injury risk but, no, still idiotic. You take the risk to get a legit #1 since we will never get one in a draft unless we are literally last place.
It is so frustrating this was such an important opportunity and we waived on acquiring the type of asset this team has not had in 30 years so we can keep Tkachuk who is a guy that will leave and has a train wreck qualifying offer or Mangiapane who while emerging is nowhere close to a Jack Eichel.
This is looking like mismanaged assets, with no further information about what went down, no matter how you look at it. Apologists will be out in force but the truth is if you won’t give up Mangiapane for Jack Eichel you should probably not be GM. Way too conservative.

Love Mang, but if he was the centerpiece of buffalos ask than Eichel would be a Flame. If you're Buffalo you through ideas out there, the conversations are had but it doesn't mean both or even either of the teams are seriously considering them without adding a lot more detail.
My guess is if Mang's name was out there, Buffalo said they would also need an established young Dman, the flames have 3 or 4 of them. But for the flames in a playoff race, they aren't giving up 2 roster players for an empty seat on the bench over the next 3/4 of a season, on the Flames side it probably always had to be 1 flame, 1 heat, 1 jr and 1 pick, if nothing else for the 2021/22 season.

Brad falling in love with his own players beyond reason has absolutely screwed us out of taking the next step.
When it comes to pursuing Eichel, the only untouchable is Lindholm because you need a good 2C and his contract is so cap friendly.
Everybody else is fair game, of course dependent on the package.

That tweet doesn’t even come close to saying Treliving declared either Tkachuk or Mangiapane untouchable. It’s just some guy’s opinion about what might have happened. There’s no inside info there.

All this talk about the Flames being idiots and morons based off of third/fourth hand knowledge has me wondering who the idiots really are.

But is it a reach, GioforPM?
Search within your soul. Knowing Treliving, Is it?
