Yeah. I'm not sure I would want a head coach that comes back to you saying; "I couldn't find a better job so I'm coming back next season." IMO being head coach is a job you have to have your heart in and if he's willing to use that option to look around I just don't see the commitment to your players and the organization. Props to him and his agent for getting that into his deal. You don't see that too often.

It has to be tomorrow. One week delay out of respect for the tragedy. One more Gulutzan sunrise.

Treliving might bring him back for another year.

Regardless of whether or not we think this is the right decision, can we agree that this is about the ballsiest thing Treliving could do?

Pretty ballsy. Not sure if the Treliving regime would survive another year if he kept Gulutzan and there was a repeat non playoff performance. I wonder how much time Treliving would have left if they continue on the current course. I guess he could always join his dad Jim with Boston Pizza if things go south with his GM career.

The last time I saw balls that big they were rolling down a cavern behind Indiana Jones.

I'm hoping this week they get the off season ball rolling. Whatever changes are going to occur from coaching to management kind of need to kick off soon so they have the vetting time between now and the draft. Jokes about processes aside, it is a process.

They just finished up their big cheese meetings in Banff last week according to the Fan so they must have some idea on the direction they're taking.

Hopefully this off season isn't cloaked in the cone of silence.

Fans at least deserve some idea of their direction.

Agreed. He would essentially be tying his fate to Gulutzan's. If the coach comes back and we miss I don't think anyone would have faith in Treliving at that point. That would be three wasted years.

I was excited with all the firing talk but if Peter's is going to be the replacement I could careless.

I don’t watch a lot of hockey anymore other than the Flames and this year completely sucked any enthusiasm I had for the sport completely out of me. Have been watching the odd playoff game (mostly because of the Jays get getting rained out) and it’s completely solidified my position that I will in no way, shape, or form renew my season tickets if the clown behind our bench is brought back. It’s not hockey that sucks, it’s Gulutzan’s comeplete brand of thrash hockey. I can take losing, I can’t take not being entertained in the slightest and wishing I was somewhere else other than the dome while I’m paying thousands of dollars to be there.

Trotz is definitely on the hot seat right now in Washington.

If Trotz cannot get this rag tag group of stars to a cup final, I ask myself how he could possibly get our rag tag group to the promised land.

AV over Trotz for me. And I like Trotz just fine but the question has to be asked.

Whatever happens, I just don't think that Treliving has the rope for another gamble hire at coach. He needs to get a proven NHL coach, with a modicum of success, from this generation. He can't afford to waste any more years here.

The Flames product was so bad this season that I was wondering if the NHL was going down hill as it was the first season I can remember when I would have games on the TV but be doing other things around the house for the majority of the game. Turns out it was only a Flames thing as this playoff hockey is fantastic and it's pretty clear Gulutzan hockey is the NHL equivalent of watching paint dry.

Yup, I realized how bad and boring we were in comparison about 3/4ths in. The last quarter of the season I watched random games instead of the Flames. Flames aren't only boring, they are boring losers. Time to get rid of Glen. Now.
