That, sir, is a colossal ####-up.

That would have been a great deal for the aves

All Boston has to show for their trade is Jimmy Hayes and Colorado got some AHL players. Terrible franchise changing trades.

Agreed - it's why you should probably never trade a star unless you know you are getting a star back.

Problem is those trades rarely happen and if they want to move Duchene it will probably be for picks/prospects.

Up to the GM to make sure they are getting a good player in that scenario.

Chris Johnson on Fan 960 this afternoon was speculating that Carolina may buyout Eddie Lack by Friday, and that Calgary may be a landing spot given Lack's ties with GG.

TSN 1040 in Vancouver had a goalie whispier on who is close to Lack, says that Lack's problems in Carolina were that the Canes were making him play to his weaknesses rather than to his strengths and feels that there is still a very good goalie there.
I wouldn't mind Lack, I have some questions about his mental makeup, but when he is on, he can be quite good. He is a guy who could run as a starter if Smith gets injured and could also be a long term solution with one of the young prospects after Smith leaves.

 It's not the worst idea.

If Ferland's mom and Lack's dad are both at a Flames game, who would Jim Hughson talk about?

I have an aversion to his name solely thanks the Hughson and co.
If he's bought out, he'd be a cheap, very capable back up goalie for Smith.

Lack would be a fun add, though I'd rather ride or die with Rittich/Gillies/McCollum/Parsons etc

Lack has negative value. Maybe we could get Carolina to throw something in for taking him on or get an upgrade on a draft pick. For an organization that watches their pennies, taking that contract off their hands has to be worth something.

From the Season Ticket holders event tonight:
Brad Treliving was called by a free agent this week that was expressing an interest in signing with the Flames, specifically because he views them as having a chance to win - Tree also noted that in previous years he wasn't getting calls like that.

Interesting. I wonder who? The fact he'd phone Tre directly suggests a connection. Vrbata or Hanzal maybe? Doan?

To add to this he mentioned this is the type of player that is in a position to pick his team and at this point of his career he wants a winner. I believe he said the Flames were one of 4 teams he was looking at.

The question that spurred this answer was related to if the Flames would consider acquiring a veteran on a 1-2 year deal to put the team over the top. Treliving did say yes after sharing that story

Who couldnit be?

Iginla? Radulov? Marleau? Doan?

Treliving did say he was looking for skill up front as an area they want to address.
