I can't believe that directing the puck with your body constitutes an illegal goal. Why?

At least with kicking, there is an argument that it's dangerous. And using your hand, sure - you don't want people throwing pucks.

But why on earth disallow that? He purposely didn't use his hands, raise his stick, or do anything dangerous.

It's the rule, you must propel the puck with your stick.

A goal shall not be allowed if the following occurs: The puck has been thrown or deliberately directed into the goal by any means other than a stick, even if subsequently deflecting off any player, including goalkeeper, prior to entering the goal.

I know it's the rule.

My point is that that the rule makes no sense.

Also, you can direct a puck with your skate as long as it isn't a kicking motion.

And... if you crash the net and the puck goes in off you, that's okay.

Stupid rule.

And if the rules would allow players to direct the puck in with their hands, what you would see is guys flipping the puck at the crease and their teammates trying to swat the puck in. The rule is in place for a reason.
