Nice to win a set playing so ugly at times. She cuts down the errors and should close it out.

Great job by Genie to battle back in that 2nd set, down 5-4 comes back to win the set and match. Nice job Genie!

Woo - great win! Break, hold, break to finish!
I tuned in late - is that Sheldon from Big Bang Theory in her cheering section?

It's getting to be almost expected that she'll find a way. Best news about getting to the quarters is she hasn't played her best tennis yet and still hasn't lost a set.

Jim Parsons is a huge Genie fan. I watched something on TSN where they said that somehow she found out he was a fan and reached out inviting him to a tourney, and he couldn't make it but emailed her back and it started a friendship. He watches every match or follows the scores and then emails.
Apparently they have bonded over her ability to stay so focused in the moment and bounce back from missing a shot. It is (apparently) similar to staying in the moment as a character.

Very cool - thanks for the info. Seeing him there seemed so...surreal, I doubted myself several times before posting the question.

Genie will not be playing tomorrow as Sharapova and Kerber has been pushed back until tomorrow. So Wednesday could be Nadal-Raonic and Bouchard-Sharapova. Too bad it's not tomorrow for Canada Day.

Pretty sure his husband is in the players box as well.
I think it's really cool that the most popular sitcom star on the planet right now is raising the profile of Genie.
Awesome.

Calling for the trainer might have hit a new low as Sabine Lisicki calls for one down a break point 1-1 in the third set. She has 4 double faults in this game and has 18 for the match. This has got to stop.

Gross is this a Japanese PBP team? It's like listening to Hughson do a Canuck playoff game.

Good response so far from Milos in this set. Sharapova in a bit of trouble too down a break in the 3rd set.

Nice to see Milos rebound so well from a pretty rough start to the match.
