Yeah, it should be slot instead of pick, but it still shouldn't be 0%

edit: also interested to see how much of his listed 218lbs is body fat... his face is kind of chubby looking (maybe just looks that way)

I would have said Jake Virtanen was the highest ranked RW, and he projects top 10 on many mocks.
Personally I love Virtanen. Speed and size. Good smarts.

Its odd how LW >> RW nowadays ... it used to be the total opposite not too long ago... players like Keith Tkachuk and Luc Robitaille were anomalies.

With the exception of ISS, everyone has Ritchie ranked higher than Virtanen (CSS, McKenzie, Future Considerations, Button, McKeen's, HockeyProspect, Red Line Report)

We're still tied for 3rd last but the pick will likely be 3-5. Meaning Ekblad and Reinhart will be gone unless Ekblad has a Jones like fall.
Sam Bennett and Del Colle will work fine as well. Can't wait for the draft see what else we get.

My friend is related to him, so we kept a close eye on him when we were at the Top Prospects game. He's got some skills, and knows how to play with much larger competition. Perhaps with Johnny Hockey he's a bit redundant, but if he's with some beef on his line, perhaps we could use him. His development would be at least 2-3 years from his draft date.

Sam Bennett is a very strong pick. I wouldn't put him that far out from Reinhart or Ekblad. And also I believe he's one of the youngest kid in the draft. If you get him at 3, you are getting a very strong prospect.

All right probability nerds and geeks:
Flames have 24 games left in the season.
sportsclubstats.com calculates the probability of where the Flames are to finish as:
30th 0.0%
29th 13.0%
28th 23.0%
27th 28.0%
26th 24.0%
25th 7.0%
24th 3.0%
23rd 1.0%
22nd 0.0%
21st 0.0%
Combine that with the draft lottery chances, these are the Flames chances at the picks:
1st 11.26%
2nd 3.25%
3rd 17.38%
4th 25.90%
5th 25.25%
6th 10.94%
7th 3.68%
8th 1.25%
9th 0.09%
10th 0.0%
(hopefully my math is correct)

So Fourth is the best guess at this point.
How does that shake down in terms of picks.
My guess:
1 and 2: Ekblad reinhart
3: Bennett
4. Draisaitl?
Looks alright to me. If the Flames land one of those I will be happy. But I'll Randy Marsh the computer screen if the Flames land Ekblad.

At 4th we probably have our pick of Draisaitl, Dal Colle, Ritchie, Perlini, and Fleury as it stands now. 4 big forwards and 1 big defenseman. Hopefully a few of them play a power game or develop that. We could use a big powerforward so that is a nice consolation about this draft if we miss out on the big 3.

And of those 4, i'm leaning towards Leon "the Deutschland Dangler" Draisaitl.
Has there been a German taken so high in the NHL draft before?

Marcel Goc was 20th overall in 2001. Marco Sturm was 21st overall in 1996.
It looks like they're the only two Germans to ever go in the first round.
Heatley went second overall and was born in Germany, but he's Canadian by IIHF standards.

Ya I would say Buffalo (so long as they win the lottery and remain #1) will draft Reinhart.
So really we will get anyone of Ekblad, Dal Colle, Bennett, Draisaitl.
Can't complain with any of those players, although I would like to get the Dman this draft so Ekblad would be ideal.
Just sucks the stupid Coilers are going to get ANOTHER player. Although whoever they choose will never develop properly in their system. Kinda feel bad for whoever gets drafted to the Coil.

you missed Olaf Kölzig. 19th overall in 1989.
Draisaitl also has the chance to become the highest German speaking pick ever. Currently, Austrias Thomas Vanek and Switzerlands Nino Niederreiter share this honour, as they were both picked 5th overall.

Regardless of where we pick, there stands to be a good chance that the Flames will get another really good player to add to the fold, and I am really looking forward to what guys like Gaudreau, Poirier, and 1st round pick can do moving forward.

Sabres have a top two pick pretty much locked up. Oilers only have a 1/3 chance at a top two pick (yay!) CGY, NYI and FLA all very close odds and a total crapshoot for those next few picks.

Saw S.Reinhart live last night in Moose Jaw and I left very, very impressed! His creativity, vision, poise, maturity, hockey iq, etc... is all off the charts! Whenever he was on the ice you noticed! Doesn't take shifts off, always skating hard. He could have easily had 3 - 4 assists if his line-mates buried their chances (some spectacular saves, too) This was only the 3rd time i've seen him live, but I always walk away impressed.
He actually reminds me of Monahan a little, but probably slightly better playmaker, vision, skating.. (I'm a huge Monahan fan... no disrespect).
