Greg Nemisz scores his second goal of the year as Heat trail 2-1 to Houston.

Heat lose 5-1. That's back to back games where Brust has started where he's allowed 5 goals. Good to see that Nemisz hit the scoresheet. If Brust continues his poor play it looks like Irving could take the starting job till Taylor comes back.

How has Blair Jones looked in his games so far? I see he has not been on the scoreboard. Does he look hungry to make it back to the NHL?

He gives it his all every shift. More bad luck than anything that he doesn't have a point yet.
He gets time on the PP and PK. Tons and tons of ice time. I've definitely liked having him on the team though. He's a really dynamic player. A jack of all trades.

Sort of off topic, but former Heat star Jon Rheault has been recalled by the Florida Panthers.
Could see his first NHL game against the Jets tonight.

Good for him. One of my all-time favourite Heat players.
But if the choice was between Street or Rheault, I don't mind having either one. They both have approximately the same point totals this year anyways.

I don't know if he has been called that since Peewee... I am sure he will like the compliment though.

Sylvester, MacKenzie, Howse stayed in Abbotsford on this road trip. They're all injured.
Reinhart one of the guys sitting this game. Last time he sat, he went on a three week tear, so this is probably best for him right now.
Irving's in net. He's only allowed 6 goals in his last 91 shots.

Heat lose 2-0 to last place Hamilton.
It's going to take a minor miracle for the Heat to make the playoffs this season.

I don't agree with Reinhart sitting. He's a good prospect.
And man, this team just cannot score.

Irving stopped 21 of 22 shots and got no help on the scoresheet once again.
I have been one of the ones that has defended Ward but I'm not sure if I can anymore, the way this teams offense is right now is unacceptable, they have some guys that can put up some points. they should not be this futile.

You can't squeeze water from a stone.
Two or three highly skilled players on the Heat would do a world of good for their offense. Look at how they were in October and November with Brodie and Baertschi. They were scoring three or four goals per game.
Right now, as far as consistent offensive players go, we've got Street and Walter (and Kolanos when he decides to play the sport of ice hockey).

I don't agree. I think guys like Sylvester, Horak, Reinhart and even Nemisz would do much better under a different coach. They are going to miss the playoffs because they can't score goals, I think a new coach with a more aggressive offensive approach would be better.

No problem, I respect your opinion. You're not alone in wanting a different coach.
I just remember what this team looked like when there were actual consistent offensive threats on the ice (i.e., last season when Kolanos was a freak show, Connelly, Clay Wilson, Walter, Rheault).

I think you are giving nemisz way to much credit. From everything I have read and heard he is a giant bust. Those injuries didn't help but it sounds like in junior he was more a product of being on a really good team rather then being a really good player. I think that was also reflected in his ice time in the world juniors and now exposed on the heat.

However I agree with your assessment that ward may be the worst coach possible. It sounds like he plays an extremely defensive style of game that stifles creativity and relies on ahl journeymen for offense. I would like to see the heat open it up a bit bench the journeymen and give reinhart, horak, street, and whomever else we have that has two hands a stick and is under 22 pp time, and some offensive leeway where they can get creative even if it means they make a mistake. Maybe that is just me but it seems that ward is trying to win games to get to the next level rather then attempting to develop prospects for the flames roster.

I'm not sure this team was ever consistent offensievly. Even to start this year it was a hot Horak's hot streak seriously skewed the offensive numbers.
I have always defended Ward in the past but I have just reached the end of my rope, to me this team is good enough to score 2 goals a game. Since around the time the lockout ended the Heat have scored 41 goals in 21 games, in no world is less than 2 goals a game over a 20+ game acceptable.
Something needs to change down there.
