If Sven plays really well the next couple games... I'm thinking we see someone get "injured" with a "lower body injury" (sore foot?) or something.

And that's how you forfeit a draft pick kids.

Unless someone is playing through an injury, this won't happen.

The only players I can see who are playing through injuries right now are Tanguay and Smith. Both of which I'd rather see in our lineup.

Someone better go Tonya Harding on Comeau then!

Probably last game up then, well make the most it Sven. Sutter try the kid with Olli and Glencross just a few shifts I bet he pots a crucial goal or sets up one.

That is not really an option since we are in the middle of a playoff race and right now the Moss-Olli-Glencross line is very important to us down the stretch.

If we were out of the playoff picture you would probably see Sven getting more important ice time, but right now the team's focus still needs to be on winning and the OMG line gives us the best chance of doing that.

No need to stretch his stay up here. He gets a few games, a little taste of the show. Really though playoffs are starting soon in the dub. His team needs him. He should go back down and take them on a deep run.

a few things

1. the Jokinen line is going well

2. By all accounts TK is a good mentor type for the 2 young players and is enjoying that role, giving them coaching of sorts on the bench etc (not that the veterans on the Jokinen line couldn't do that also but sounds like they are happy with the mentoring that Baertschi is getting)

3. On the 3rd line Baertschi should be seeing a team's 3rd dpair and depth forwards- probably the better situation now that on the top 2 lines who are getting shutdown attention. In fact the Jokinen line often plays against top forwards from the other team too, so not necessarily best for the rookie

Speaking with Sven, he was excited to be here but also very excited for a long playoff run with Portland.

How is breaking up one of the most powerful lines in hockey right now the smartest thing you've ever heard?

Admittedly, Baertschi could have a greater impact on that line than Moss has... but
a) Don't fix what isn't broken
b) That line really has taken it to another level since Moss came back.

Could be aligned with Glencross' return back to form after injury... but you still just don't mess with a good thing.

Plus, why experiment with a good line when you have to send the kid back in a game or two?

I mean I think it might be a good idea to see what Sven is capable of with capable teammates. Moving Moss off of the second line for one game is not the end of the world. I understand that that line has been good lately but whats not to say they can be better with Sven? Worth a try in my opinion.

If there is a suggestion of impropriety, the NHL will have its own doctors evaluate a team's players. If they find that the team has been faking the severity of an injury, then said team faces a seven-digit fine and the loss of draft picks.

It isn't even worth speculating on, because the Flames aren't nearly stupid enough to consider something like that. Let alone consider something like that to get just two or three more games out of him.

Tonight is probably Baertschi's last game. Maybe Thursday. But he will be in Portland by the weekend, I think.

No, it really isn't. the OMG line is playing extremely well, generating chances and scoring goals. You don't break that up just because. Changing the dynamic could easily make every player worse.

Also, TKO, Baertschi and Nemisz are playing well together. With the top two lines occupying the other team's defensive focus, they have been able to spend a lot of time in the offensive zone playing against weaker defenders.

Both lines are doing well as they are. Far smarter to leave things as they are.

Worth a try... but we're at a point where anything but perfection could land us outside the playoffs.

As much as I'd love to see what this kid could do, I'd rather leave it to next year. We only have him for this game and maybe the next, so even if it does work it leaves us nowhere.

What if the move affect's Moss' confidence? Risking a good line at this point isn't worth a couple Svensational games IMO.

Good point, we are in a do or die situation right now, perhaps my excitement about Baerstchi put things out of perspective. Winning games should be paramount, although I do hope we give Sven a shift on the pp before he goes back to Portland.
