I do think we should revisit the scoring format.
If I can figure out how to do vlookups I'll run some simulations of Mercedes Ferrari 1234 and see what the result is.

I don't mind the scoring as is, but if we were to change it something simple like getting rid of the point scale and just going with one point each grid position correct, whether that's 1st, 6th or 10th, still worth the same.
Plus most correct top 10 again

That's kinda what I'm thinking. 1 point for correct top 10 and 1 for correct finish position.

I'd just like to avoid some of the more gimmicky scoring like inverted top 10 (guessing 10th yields the most points) that seem to be getting more and more popular across the web

Definitely in again next year. Thanks Flamesrule for all your work this year.
It’s really tough to find something simple that it doesn’t take Flamesrule hours to score but rewards consistency. It’s so hard to get the exact position right. For me it was anyways.
I saw one scoring system, maybe even posted it here, that relied on 10 points for correct position then for all inexact answers it was 10 points minus how far away you guessed. So if you guessed a Ham win and he finished 2nd you’d get 9 points. But that would be a pain to score I think.
Maybe 10 points for an exact guess and then 1 point for each driver in the top 10 (even if wrong exact position).
I’m ok with whatever though. Beggars can’t be choosers.

Whatever we decide, if Flamesrule needs help crafting a spreadsheet to implement it I could probably figure out whatever formulas we would need. Just no calculus.

Thanks guys that was fun! I totally forgot to pick last race but on the flipside it was because I was in Rome working and sightseeing. They had a Ferrari store on the ritzy shopping strip with sims and some amazing merch so at least I had a bit of an F1 fix.
Till next year!

The spread sheet is pretty easy to work with now that its all built. Just use a "match = X" for points so it can be tailored for each position. So a standard 3pts (or whatever) for correct slot + 1pt for correct top 10 is super easy to do.
Another idea is to do it by the constructors standings from previous season...so a correctly slotted Merc gets 1 bonus pt, Ferrari gets 2 bonus pts...Alfa 8pts, Haas 9pts, Williams 10pts...plus your Correct Top 10.
Prizes for Winner, 2nd, and Most Correct.

Not F1 related, but RIP John Andretti. Got to meet him at Phoenix a number of years ago. Super nice guy, very genuine and easy to talk to.

Lawrence Stroll has purchased almost 20% of fledgling carmaker Aston Martin. Racing Point to be rebranded as of 2021 and relationship with Red Bull is over.
This is incredible news. Very cool.
