Manchester United have to be in the title conversation given their run following their terrible start to the season.
In relation to their first goal, it is an insanely stupid rule to include a decision on whether a player is interfering with play when making an offside decision. Unless someone is down injured and clearly not in the equation, they are interfering - even if only impacting on the positioning and attention of the defending team.

That, I am not disagreeing with.
I'm simply saying that as per the rules he wasn't interfering.
But I totally get the optics and the argument that he was actually interfering. eg There's no doubt his presence affected Ederson getting set to stop a shot.
But there's no rule against that.
Anyways. By next week it'll be just over half way and United will have Arsenal and City over with.
I wouldn't put them in title talk but there's definitely a team forming there. Love that he's n not afraid to make the big decisions like Shaw to CB when needed.

From your tweet articulate who exactly he prevented from playing the ball.

Answer the question. Who was he interfering with and how? Who was he preventing from playing the ball? How was he blocking keeper's vision?
What is the point of that tweet except to argue against yourself?

You really think a clearly offside Rashford running after the ball for 30 yards didn't have an impact on how the defenders play that? At the end of the day, as I said, be grateful and enjoy the benefit of this bad call going your way, in another match or two you'll find yourself on the wrong end of crappy ref roulette. It usually all balances out in the end, but it still sucks to see such abysmal reffing.

the argument is that Rashford didn't play the ball or make a real attempt to play it, therefore he wasn't active. The attempt thing is up for interpretation and it's generally a #### rule, but that's why the goal counted. It doesn't make sense in my world, but then again, that happens all the time these days (see: hands rule).

Scoreline might actually flatter Liverpool, Brighton dominated that one. Doesn't make Potter look good either that they keep rolling without him.

what a ####ing glorious day. I fully understand that the focus is on Rashfords role during the first United goal, but in all honesty, that probably makes it even sweeter lol. And it doesn't change the fact that xG was clearly in favour of United (2.07 to 0.76), which is remarkable in a game between these two teams. Remember, City completely destroyed United in a 6-3 game a couple of months ago ... today they barely had any chances. Ten Hag really has worked wonders in short time, and he's completely changed team morale too. What was nothing more than a group of individualists a few months ago now looks like a cohesive team of players that work for each other. Beating all of Klopp, Guardiola, Conte and Arteta in the first half of the season is pretty sweet too.
I don't care for any title talk, I don't think United is there yet. Arsenal have been remarkably stable this season and City has so much quality, it's hard not to imagine them going on a run at some point. But yeah, sitting 10 points ahead of Liverpool and 13 ahead of Chelsea is bloody amazing.

It's only abysmal reffing because you don't understand the rules.
Yes he might have affected how they played that or Ederson getting set for the shot but he did NOT breach any rules.
Quote:
. Offside offence
A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:
interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or
interfering with an opponent by:
preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
challenging an opponent for the ball or
clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball
or
gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent
been deliberately saved by any opponent
|
So. Again. What was the rule that was broken?
He never prevented anyone from playing or trying to play the ball.
He never obstructed the keeper.
Again. Instead of ignorant ranting about abysmal refereeing simply state what rule was broken.

Regardless of the offside stuff, I have no issue with it
City defending was bad, they so rarely get caught out like that, ten Haag had a perfect plan

just saw the Mudryk news. Boehly is out of his mind ... it seems there is no plan whatsoever, they are just shelling out money left and right. That's not how you build a team ...

Think what we learned also today is that ten Hag is not afraid to make big decisions and that he has little trust in Maguire.
Not afraid to sit Martinez when the match up didn't suit him and not afraid to ruffle feathers by putting Shaw in CB ahead of the captain.

He seems more focused on taking toys away from Arsenal than what it will actually do for Chelsea.
Maybe doesn't want another London team winning the league.

Isn’t baseball a lot of 7 year deals? Maybe that’s where this comes from?
Regardless…I have no idea how this is within the rules. The lone bright spot is that they paid to keep him away from Arsenal. Even that was amusing though because they reportedly bid 70m when the price was known to be 100m. That’s the kind of thing Daniel Levy does all the time and with the same success.

Sky and Telegraph are now saying it's actually an 8.5 years contract. Crazy stuff.

I believe in the Jays.

These fees are getting outrageous. Mudryk scored 9 goals in 29 appearances and somehow that is now worth 80 mil or whatever they paid. Chelsea are going to break the league.
