Yeah, I know but I'll always default to use our own guys. Solo and Kuz in particular.

I think we will see more of that as this season goes on. Some of the vets will be moved along and we'll see more of the rookies come up.

I don’t think any team wants Miro, Bean, OR Hanley.

Hanley? He'll get you a 4th or something. Flames refurbed him. Good asset management.
Didn't work with a bunch of the other guys. Was worth a try, but also know when to cut bait and move on.

Early trading today on TSN Dreger mentioned the Canucks desperately need a high end 2C or at least a number 3. I do wonder if things continue to go poorly for the Flames could the Canucks surface as a trading partner for Kadri or Frost?

Frost turns 27 shortly after the regular season ends.
I wouldn’t move him for the sake of it and the way it has gone for him his value is lower than what the Flames paid so in that sense I think it makes sense to keep him. If a team views him as a piece that can help now and in the future and gives up a couple or 2nds at the deadline it is worth looking at.
I think the Flames will be more aggressive at adding pieces next summer so having the space and assets to do it makes sense.
Kadri is the biggest question mark for me. I feel like he will stay and be part of the team but then I could also see the desire to win and the interest from around the league being hard to ignore.

so he is 26, my mistake...point stands. You do need a center or two.

Also, you need some guys to be the next set of vets. Kadri, Coleman and Backlund won't be here much longer - they need guys like Frost and Farabee to take over. You can't have a team entirely comprised of 20-23 year olds. Well... you can, if you want to be Buffalo.

Frost and Farabee were castoffs from another team who has been mediocre for a long time.
Zary is already 24. Coronato turns 23 3.5 weeks. By the time next years high pick is 21 those guys will be 27-28.
There is no need to ditch Frost now since he has another year left but he is far from a piece they need to hold onto if another team wants to overpay. Unlikely but it does sound like Vancouver is getting aggressive in adding another center with Chytil being injured again

I think the Flames will be aggressive in terms of adding next summer. Having extra picks is key in being able to make those deals

They are not pieces that the team needs to hold on to, no. But patience is a good thing - let's see who turs into what. You can't just constantly turn the lineup over, you'd be perpetually selling low.
Fans need to learn to be more patient.

There are a number of players getting 8 minutes a game who should really be given a different role. (Lapierre and that ilk) but aatu raty fits that bill, too.
Shipping a center to Vancouver for raty and a nice pick would be a nice piece of work.

I don't have the feeling the "impatient-for-the-rebuild-to-start" crowd has the patience for one.

Let’s just walk it back to the beginning.
Canucks need a center. If they want to pay up for Frost the Flames should consider it.
Turning into some kind of restraint for patience is ridiculous.

Flames have proven time and time again they don't treat players like assets and don't manage them as assets. If posters want to be binary and treat players like assets they're going to be wrong 100 percent of the time. Frost isn't getting traded.
