Nope. Can't back up any claims. But conversely can you tell me he got along with everyone? Something was rotten in that room last year. Not saying it was him, but the team is better this year. Much better.
A captain is looked upon as the team leader. Sorry you didn't like boss, I shouldn't have gone with that, but it was still his team then and now it isn't. Its a bad fit now. The team has moved on. Some fans should too.
End of the day I am not even saying this is a deal I am clamoring for. I think it is the type of deal the organization would entertain. Maybe all the players were spewing pure BS when they were commenting on Gio’s impact to their career prior to him leaving? Seemed like some sincere praise from many of the guys who are top players on our team.
I think this team struggled with the entire Covid situation last year. I think guys like Tkachuk really struggled with the isolation and lockdowns.
I think years of bad coaching hurt this team and it was going to take more than 5-10 games to really turn the tide in this organization around and have everyone buy in. Geoff Ward was in over his head and did a horrible job managing the team last year. Guys were disinterested and Bennett demanded a trade because he was jerked around by a coach who didn’t know what he was doing.
I don’t know why it is a bad fit now if they are set on getting a second pairing left shot D man. I would rather they spend big on a forward and go with a depth dman but would much prefer Gio to Charoit on this team.
Gio leaving was a good thing at the end of the day as it opened up the cap space to sign Coleman and opened up the opportunity for Kylington to breakout.
If the Flames move Monahan for Giordano I will not be upset at all. Ideally if the Flames are destined to win the cup this year I would love Gio to be part of it. If it doesn’t work then I won’t shed a tear but I think Treliving and Sutter would want him back if they could do it and the cost is not a 1st+
Do you have any info to back up the claims you are making? Who didn’t he get along with? I don’t think a captain is a “boss” bad analogy. I don’t see it being awkward at all. A guy who gave his all for a team gets to come back and try and win a cup with a team that never wanted to lose him in the first place.
Again correlation does not equal causation when it comes to this team being good now that Gio left. In my opinion he doesn’t come back with the C but could take Monahan’s vacant A.
Kylington is the guy that will suffer but if all else is equal I prefer Gio to Charoit all day long.
Wasn't he one of the leaders that suggested Tkachuk tone down his game? Also, Tkachuk never wished him well with his 1000th game celebration like other former teammates on the Flames.

I have no proof of anything but just saying...
That was the rumour. But Tkachuk has now toned his game down - not every whistle is a scrum and he hasn’t lost it this season, and he’s become a much better player.
Dunno about 1000 games but Tkachuk had very good things to say about him in his return game. Though they did have a set to at the end of the game.

Tkachuk absolutely wished Gio the best on his return here he along with Hanifin and others were interviews I listened to leading up to that game.
Wouldn’t you agree that Tkachuk has absolutely toned it down this year compared to any in the past?

Gio is SEA's only golden goose to sell for the foreseeable future...they need to maximize his return by retaining and trading for picks or forward prospects. They've already got a 'glut of Valimakis'

Think the poster is referring to this Twitter thread. Iginla, Backs, Ras, Lucic, Johnny, Hanifin, Monahan, and Tanev all filmed something for Gio’s 1000th in the replies but no Tkachuk.
Tkachuk did have nice things to say about Gio in his return game, but I was wondering why no message here, especially since the other Alternate captains and longtime players had a message. https://twitter.com/user/status/1500213870870220803
