Serious, unmitigated damage.
And if at any point during an election your defense is "I'm a friend of the Jewish people" because you have to defend against Hitler comments you wantonly made, you've lost the plot and the mandate to govern. And you should realize the boat you're sinking in is bringing 4M+ citizens down with you.
And the worst part is NONE of her cabinet/caucus is calling her out or condemning her words. Just placating, deflecting, and speaking in vague tones. Spineless cowards, because all they care about is positions of power.
To Danielle Smith, Albertans are Hitler followers. To TBA, Albertans are anti-human. And these two are working hand-in-hand and smiling all the while doing it.
Just an unmitigated, disastrous Premier and party doing considerable harm to the province. Absolute clown show.

I emailed my MLA this morning to shame him about standing in support of someone who called the majority of Albertans Nazis. Asked him if that reflects on his own individual values and how his conscience can accept that. Shame the hell out of them, maybe some still have a soul.

So you don't agree that Smith is everything that this thread has said she is? Just be clear.

If you're being influenced by CP to determine your personal voting position because of 'mean spirited takes', maybe take a breather, go for a walk, and then just do your own research on the specific parties and their platforms.
Maybe listen to the leaders and judge their words - one actually just compared us vaccinated to followers of Hitler, so really, that kind of rhetoric should influence your voting position more than what we here at 'CP' think.

We should have a support group or something. Although to be honest if Druh Farrell was the NDP candidate in my riding I'd probably vote for the Alberta Party.
The list of people I can't ever vote for isn't too long, but Danielle Smith and Druh Farrell are both on it.

Are you worried she might shut down half of Deerfoot for an event on a Sunday and put in a bike lane along QEII?

That is ridiculous, you should vote for the party who's leader or local candidate you align with the most. To say you wont vote one way because people are mean in a single thread is a cop out. You find a hundred other threads in other forums that are as equally mean the other way.

'We need to control the party': a look inside Take Back Alberta's UCP insurgency
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...-ucp-1.6834387
"We can't be collecting people's information and giving it to campaigns or anything like that," Parker told TBA's other top organizers.
"Right now we've just violated election law. So I'm going to have to report that to Elections Alberta now."
Benita Pedersen, the group's Edmonton-area director, chimed in. "We'll say it was an error on the Cognito form and we haven't shared anyone's information." "Exactly," colleague Jarrad McCoy agreed.
"This is a war between the pro-humans and anti-humans," he said. Parker referred to abortion, and modern urban women's impulse to delay having children for their careers' sake.
He also argues that NDP and progressives want to depopulate society for the sake of the environment. "You are the carbon they are trying to reduce."
"You can vote your way into socialism," Parker said. "You almost always have to shoot your way out."

I would suggest Danielle Smith didn't compare Yoho to the people who fell in line with Hitler.
Yoho has no problem with DS referring to me or you as Nazis though.

I'd say they've succeeded with the UCP

Even with his clarification this makes absolutely no sense and shows a total ignorance of history. The Soviet Union ended without a violent revolution or uprising. This is also true for practically every former communist country: all of East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, etc. experienced a non-violent and peaceful transition to democracy at the end of the Cold War.
Also, I can't even believe I need to say this, but the Alberta NDP are not totalitarian communists.
"Leaders come and go, folks. We need to control the party. We need to control the party that's in power."
^^ This is literally something a power broker in a single-party totalitarian state would say.

But the thing is, NDP supporters going around telling people how dumb they are for voting UCP don’t want to hear why they’d vote UCP. They just want to tell everyone how smart they are and how stupid these other people are. You can’t have a legitimate discussion in that circumstance.
And second, this is where some people learn that a secret ballot is a big deal. I have no doubt that some people debating their vote read this thread and feel like “why would I admit to voting UCP, so those guys can just pile on and call me an idiot?” Of course, those voices aren’t there in the ballot box, and the race is tighter than this thread seems based partly on that. Don’t think it’s true? Look at the 2016 US Presidential election, or Brexit. That’s exactly what happened there.
|
I would guess a lot of it is also that most people aren’t political junkies and aren’t seeing all the issues. Or they only hear about them superficial and assume it’s all political gotchas and ignore it. Or they consciously avoid news that is uncomfortable for them. Tarring them all as deplorables and morons is unfair and a losing strategy, though lord knows the shoe fits too many people for my liking.

Anyone really surprised hard right pseudo-intellectuals are historically illiterate? People don't become right wing extremists with a balanced historical understanding.

This guy is the puppet-master? YIKES.
A regressive, right wing ventriloquist at the helm, with the DS dummy in tow sounds like a fun 4 year ride.
