If both you and the guy on the other side are pumping gas, the middle guy can't leave until one of you is done anyway.

The girl and I both tested positive for COVID this morning. This new strain has hit her like a ton of bricks and she is doing so poorly that we came to the hospital just after lunch - hubby is away and there was no one else to bring her, so I checked with 811 about whether or not they'd let me bring her in, with a positive test myself, and they said I could.
Crappy timing too, because she's supposed to see the metabolic specialist on the 8th, after waiting months for this referral, so now that's in jeopardy and means waiting months again, to get in.
All this shi* is grinding my gears hard-core today.

Do the old covid tests still work to detect Covid 4.2 or whatever this is?

Most stations that have middle pumps usually have room for the middle car to exit, unless somebody parks too far away from the pump and blocks the lane. At least at the Coop, Costco, and Petro-Cam stations I frequent.

I saw a press conference with Dr Bonnie Henry this week and she said that the Covid tests still work.

In that case, if its busy, backing up is even better because it gives the middle car more room to get out.

You should exit in whatever fashion works best, but leaving a pump unused shouldn’t be an option.

I'm always a little skeptical because they didnt work all that well to begin with and whenever we've had new variants the Health Care Professionals have always been a little quick with the:
"Oh yeah, the tests/vaccines will totally still work on the new variants! Totes!!"
Uh huh...I still get the vaccines but I'm just a little more cautious when you start feeling some of those symptoms.
If they go away quickly then it was probably run-of-the-mill ill...but I'm watching you COVID...I'm watching...

We had two positive tests at our house and a ton of friends, family and co-workers that tested positive in the last few weeks as well, so it does seem the tests still work. Seems to be all over the map for severity; wife and I were quite sick, but family in ON had a very mild bout with it. It does seem like there may be a nasty cold/flu going around at the same time as well though as we have a few friends that test diligently whenever they get sick due to their work/family situations and they have tested negative throughout being sick.

yep it's all over the map for everyone. probably also depends on if you've had a variant before.
My gross-feeling symptoms only lasted 2 days this past summer, and then almost normal again within a couple days except the exercise-fatigue came on faster and took longer to recover from for a few weeks.

I had it last week
Symptons were minor but the fatigue was pretty bad
But got over it in less than a week
Pretty sure I got it on a flight

According to 811 and the ER, yes.
This is her 2nd bout with it. Because of her raft of medical issues, we test if she has any symptoms that are vaguely COVID like (we've grabbed everyone's boxes of tests they didn't want, so we have a stack), and both times, she's been ill for 3-4 days before tests turn positive but when they do, it's immediate, the second the fluid hits the test zone and it's a deep pink; mine was a faint positive at 1 minute and then darkened within another couple of minutes.
We only went out once this week, ironically to a doctor's appointment. I'm going to assume that's the spot she picked it up.

I've been sick for like 2 weeks at this point but I think it's just a cold. I no longer have any tests, so I guess I will never know for sure.

The middle car? I get gas all the time and every station has 1 or 2 pumps per "aisle". Maybe a costco thing, I don't go there?
Either way, shouldn't a vehicle be able to maneuver out of a middle spot if there is one? Like how wedged in could they possibly be?

Really? Shell I think has 3 pumps per aisle. The one i go to anyway.
They are wedged in because they are the side closest to the store or the curb. They were able to drive straight into that middle spot (behind another car). But if an additional car backs into the front spot, they will be boxed in.
Here's is a street view. The car at the bottom, if parked a little bit further up, would block the way out (even in this picture, there's barely enough space)

Even 2 per aisle, you could box someone in if the pump is closest to the store.

COVID tests test for several antigens, including from parts of the virus that are much less likely to mutate, so they can still identify variants.

I still ask for a butterscotch sundae at DQ. They offer caramel instead.
If I dont ask then they wont know they were wrong for going away from it.

Celebrity "news" in general bugs me, but why is Taylor Swift being at the game on the hadlines on sports sites? I get Taylor Swift is huge, but she's not playing, and no other WAG gets this kind of treatment, at least that I recall.
She wants to go cheer on her boyfriend or whatever that's fine. It's not news, let alone sports news.
