Presumably it means that there should be easier stretches to balance things out. That will be the real test for the team. Even a lot of really good teams only go 0.500, give or take, during rough schedule patch then nail the cushy parts to make up for it.
It sucks getting a tough schedule at the very beginning though because it can start off everything with a negative vibe which can be hard to break out of.

This team rarely has 2 consistent seasons in over a decade. They had a lot go right for them last year. Their best young players have big contracts and pressure on them, their best veterans are all a year deeper into their 30’s. Conroy did not make the team better this summer we were walking right into a down year.

To be fair winning is quite fun

Iginla was also a winger. Maybe we should've traded Neuwy for a center instead.
Wingers when they're elite enough can drive a team.
When you have a winger that good, you pair him with a solid, high IQ 2-way center. Hopefully we have that guy coming in Reschny.

It's not as common as the superstar centre and supporting winger but it can work
Kucherov with Point.
Ovie with Strome/Backstrom
Iggy with Conroy
Lafleur with Lemaire
Hull with Oates
Elias with Arnott/Gomez
Kane with Toews or Richards
Ducks with Selanne and Macdonald

Let's wait more than 5 games and them starting to play a more balanced schedule to start declaring them frontrunners for McKenna.

Going to need a coach for that.

So the active players rumored being shopped.
Reichel in Chicago.
Tippett in Philly.
Othmann in NYR.

For what? I never said where I think they'll end up. Just that 5 games is too soon for people to start getting excited about them drafting McKenna given how stupid their schedule has been.
They might not get as close as they did last year but they could still end up not being bad enough to have good lottery odds.

You think kadri today is better than O'Reilly who won the selke and conne smythe in his Stanley cup winning season? Haven't seen someone be this wrong and this angry about it since Mcdavid signed.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I assume it’s him being with the team all year but not seeing the ice at all yet. Scratched every game.

Yep they’re doing fine but Jiri wondered what the drama may be and that was my guess.
Gaudreau got hurt and they called up Hayden who will likely draw in.

Ive never fallen for Catton... his game reminds me a lot of Hunter Shinkaruk.
But if this type of drama makes Wright available... im licking my chops.

I've always really liked Othmann- he's 6'0", but plays a hard-nosed power-forward style with physicality, pace, and tenacity. His main weapon is his shot, but he's got good all-around hockey sense. In his D+1 year, he put up 97 points in 66 games (with 50 goals) for the Barrie Colts, and followed that up with 24 points in 19 playoff games. That season, he also participated in the WJC-20, where he registered 6 points in 6 games, and had 6 points in 7 games in that tournament the year after.
Apparently, there was a spot open on the Rangers this year, but he failed to grab a spot out of camp; he's still quite young though, at 22 years old. Last season, he posted 12 goals and 20 points in 27 AHL games, and had 49 points in 67 AHL games the season prior. On the downside, although he attacks with pace and has improved since he was drafted, he still needs work on his skating.
