You must hate the jays as well then? Both teams have terrible turnout for weekday games. The fans that do go to the games in tampa are loud and proud. Great atmosphere to watch a game. If you go to new york or boston games things can get pretty heated as at least a third of the fans at those games are cheering for the other team.
So much for the good match up yesterday. Get your brooms out jays fans it is time to do some spring cleaning and get swept out of tampa. Hopefully the jays didn't go out partying all night in St pete and actually put up a little bit of a fight.

Yah was shocked with the outcome for sure. Never would have predicted Marcum to struggle so badly.
As for the attendace, Rays are top team and have absolute crap support from their fan base. This is a bad trend for any team.
Jays however are struggling team that has not been a contender for a long time... Beston has spoke about this topic and has said the team has to show the Fans a reason to come and support the team.

It’s not really meaningless when the rays are only 2 games up on the Yankees for first place with Boston and the jays not far behind. If jays were to have swept this series would have put you guys 3 or so games back for first place. Have you given up on your team all ready? Its not even July yet you are still in contention yet the 3rd of 3 huge series in a row for your team is meaningless?
Rays are averaging 50 percent attendance at home which is not great. Not making excuses but to get from Tampa to St Pete for a lot of fans on a weekday is quite the trek through traffic. St Pete has 250 000 people living there with 2.7 Million in the Tampa Bay area. Toronto Has 2.5 million in the city alone and 5.5 in the GTA. Just based on those numbers Toronto should be pulling in a lot more fans.
Third last in the league in attendance while being 11th in league in overall standings and still putting together a good season thus far is something to worry about.
Here is an article from last year backing up what I just said about the problem in Tampa for weekdays

No question the attendance is a huge concern for the Jays, its why the President (i.e. Beston) has spoken about the topic.
He said the team understands that the fans have walked away from the team due to years of issues surrounding the team.
The key for the Jays is to show the City this team can contend, if that happens will the fans come back? If they don't the Jays are in trouble.
However Tampa is also in big trouble if they have a contender and still can't draw fans with a crap..... How long can that happen?

You build it and they will come. If they were to build a new stadium somewhere more accessible to the entire area people would show for weekday games. It is just a fight right now to find not only a venue but a building everyone agrees with. Lots of people want an open air stadium. While another large portion want it to be domed to shelter from the extreme florida heat.

Enjoy your broom on the ride home fundmark. Maybe you can sweep your porch instead, it won't be that much work since nobody comes to watch the rays anyway: less cleanup. I know few go to watch the jays, but at least we're not the best team in baseball. Kidding aside, I like the rays and see how they have become what they are, since I am a longtime jays fan. How long have you been a rays fan?
wow, Cecil is a force. Yanks and now the rays? slowly he is slaying the demons...
Mach, yeah (what a catch)Wise was stashed in AAA and just had his contract purchased by the club.

So glad I wasn't home to watch the game after reading the boxscore, and Greggs line. Wins like these are huge and keep the Jays in contention. They proved they can play with the big boys and they didn't put themselves in a hole they couldn't climb out of.
Had you asked any Jays fans at the start of the season, if they'd be happy with where the Jays stand right now? Everyone would take it.

Another good outing by Cecil, as he stops the losing streak for the Jays. Last year the better teams in the AL really beat up on him, but this year besides that game against Texas he's been up for the challenge.
If they Jays are still over .500 at the end of this month that will be pretty good for them.

Jays signed RHP Noah Syndergaard, drafted 38th overall to a contract and he'll report immediately to the spring training facility at Dunedin.

I am glad you guys beat our worst pitcher! Im honestly surprised the score was only 3-2 with the way hes been throwing muffins
My Best friends dad moved down to Tampa 6 years ago and I started going on semi anual visits 3 years ago thats when I started to follow baseball and cheering for the rays since they were the only team I ever got to see live. Then in 2008 we went down in may and got our first glimpse of Evan Longoria and met him and decided this team could really be good. So when we went back in October and saw them beat Boston in the ALCS we confirmed that theory.
Heres a picture with me and my buddy at the bar with Evan

That's a weak response... If I recall the Jays openned the Series with their 5th Starter.
Cecil is pitching really.. really well. He totally shutdown the Rays line up. Cecil has won 5 in a row.

I didn't watch the game as I had a family dinner so I can't really comment on what happened. But Davis needs to step it up he is really killing our team ERA. Like I said earlier you guys need to keep wining because I want the Rays and Jays in the post season!!!

It's pretty convenient that you started being a fan 3 years ago. I have been watching them get sodomized by the AL east for 12 years. I have watched the bad first round picks, the bad novelty managers and the continually bad fanbase. This team is like a very rare diamond that has been forged by millions of years(hyperbole) of pressure and disappointment.
I remember when BJ upton was the SS of the future. etc...
It's nice that you started to like the team after they landed a once in a generation player like Longoria and things started to go well for them. But for someone who talks as much trash as you did, you really don't have much right to. You seem like a band wagon fan, ie there for the good times. And wade davis is what you offered for Halladay, no brignac. Nice try. And how is a guy who throws a curveball like that and a 95mph heater your worst? You're a joke. We start off with tallet and nobody said anything. It's called class, buddy.
