That last one's pretty cool. I'm assuming it's as the tower spins the light is coming in and out?

BUMP!

It looks like you unzoomed while taking a long exposure? Either way, looks good. Tons of awesome photos here guys, I especially love those rodeo shots. I'm just starting to play with HDR/tone mapping, so here are some from Chicago (except the tortoise is from St. Louis)

I only have a crap-ass camera but thought I would share some pics I took of the storm by Didsbury last night.

I saw that driving back from Edmonton around 730ish. Thought it was a funnel cloud.

Not necessarily the best of photo's but this isn't the Neverending "Great" Photo thread . . . . . just sharing a few summer weekend moments . . .

Up at Hailstone Butte Fire Watch Station yesterday . . . Abby (front) meets a new friend. Her owner has been a fire watch man for 30 years, up there in May and down again in mid-October. I was probably his only visitor on the day.

Below, almost to the top. This walk was a big deal for Abby, after eating two (2) six foot leather leashes, having her belly opened to get them out, then ripping up tendons and ligaments and a nail out mining for rodents, all in June. She's fully recovered from a tough couple of months.

Below, Abby demonstrates a useful skill for any dog on the prairie, slipping under a barbed wire fence. My other Golden, Keeper, was raised in town and used to bounce off fences like this at full run and still stops and looks them over carefully before going under.

Below, an early morning swim at Upper Kananaskis Lake.

Hope you're all having a pleasant summer . . . .

So I stumbled on this site and it got me thinking, 'How would I describe Calgary in 10 photos?'

I though I would throw this out to the thread to either give suggestions of what you would shoot or post pictures that you think fit the description. As much to get people posting as anything.

10 photos?
a picture of downtown with the saddledome in the forefront
a picture of downtown looking across the river
a picture of fish creek or nose hill
a picture from the airport with downtown in the distance
a picture from 7ave
a picture with the mountains in the background
a picture looking down a street in a hilly neigborhood
a picture of people rafting down the bow river
a picture from a stamps game in the summer with downtown or nose hill in the background
a picture with stormy weather at one end of the city and sunny skies at the other

those would be my choices off the top of my head

Regulator can I ask how you did the shots of downtown? Like what kind of lens, aperture settings etc. I'm trying to figure out how to use my camera and getting pictures like yours is my goal.

Also do you guys do a lot of editing afterwards?

Yeah, most of my shots on flickr have the exif data included.

I don't spend much time post processing.

Remember it's not about the gear, just how you use it.

Nikon D90
Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8
NIkkor 35mm F/1.8
Nikkor 50mm F/1.8
Tamron 90mm F/2.8
Nikkor 18-200mm VR
Manfrotto 488RC0 Head & Carbon Fiber Tripod

Thanks man. That sounds like really expensive gear... I'm going to try to get good with my awesome 18-55mm lens and see what I can do before I get expensive. I really like your album though, so nice

I have a question for a picture like this

http://www.flickr.com/photos/witty_n...in/photostream

How did you get the blues... so incredibly blue? I try but it never turns out that blue. Or greens so green. Do you use a filter or increase the contrast?
