Now that both sides have all but confirmed the long term goal, the expectation is that neither side wants this to drag on.
Expectations that Rasmus is moved in the coming days before or on draft day.
Priority remains trying to move up.

Gonna be fun!

I like the new format. Focus should be on the fans and players. Don't care for watching 20 team personnel along with their family slow walk.
They may have a green room and interview the family.

Thanks Royle. Any further word on teams that are showing the most interest in Andersson at this point?

It really surprises me that Tampa hasn't come up more as a team pushing for him. They have this amazing forward corps and goalie but their blueline is thin, and McDonough is coming off the books next year so they have the cash to get him too. You want to get past Florida and you have Darren Raddysh as your #1 RHD? Seems like a perfect fit. Maybe they just don't love the player.

I’ll add this on the Rasmus front, the Flames have let it be known that if he’s interested in playing his career in Calgary, he still has that option however it won’t be at 8.5x8 like his camp asked for.. his choice needs to be made shortly if he has a change of heart. My understanding is Rasmus is having conversations with his family this week… He truely loves it here and believes in the Organization post Tre departure.
Flames are comfortable going into next season with him being a pending FA. I believe flames offered at 6.75x6(500K~) with the cap hit going down for extra years.
Flames believe for the best return it will need to be a sign and trade post July 1 but they’re dangling 50% retained on the single year. At least 4 teams highly interested, I have confirmation on Utah, Dallas need to connect with another source to confirm the other teams.

Utah is interesting... they have a great prospect base. Imagine pick 4 is a non starter for them but lots of other really interesting young players the flames could build around.

6.75 x 6 is definitely A LOT less than he can get elsewhere, but if he wanted to stay, that would be a steal for the Flames.
4th overall from Utah would be Desnoyers or Frondell. Or a potential Misa move with the Sharks. Please Conroy get it done!

Would be a bit annoying to move Kadri to Carolina now when the Avs package at the deadline was apparently massive (including Ritchie)

That would be magical if Nazem got moved... love Kadri but we're truly into a rebuild and showing signs of having a long term plan if he gets moved for a good return. Next year the flames are for sure picking top 10 in a super deep draft and the return on him would have to be great with the year he's just had.
Seems like he really wants to stay in Canada though? Vancouver feels like a great fit as far as need and fit but it would be tough for the Flames to face him in the division afterwards.

Yeah they do.
In particular a player who's first name starts with "T" and the rest of his name is "ij Iginla"
And before anyone bites my head off, yes, I'm well aware that Tij isn't on the table.

Would be interesting if they were so set on Utah that the flames set the price for him as Tij or 4th, let them pick. I can dream

Can’t judge it without knowing the return from Carolina. Not that I’m expecting him to waive anyways.

I'm guessing plan A for VGK is trading Hertl and getting value, which is why we hear his name out there
In terms of cap dumps you are looking at potential guys like William Karlsson (5.9M), Nic Roy (3M), Keegan Kolsar (2.5m), Zach Whitecloud (2.75M), McNabb (3.65M). If the Flames could take one of those guys with a pick - it's a nice little bit of business.

What's the thought process behind this thinking? I thought the sign and trade was attractive to ensure the 8th year is captured in the case of a UFA. But, Andersson has a year left so any team can negotiate their own 8 year contract. Not challenging your point, just trying to understand it. Thank you in advance.

CC wasn't comfortable at the deadline for multiple years. Vegas long term deals mostly.
What could they even offer.
