He is an absolute beauty. Was a beauty when he was here and is still a beauty. Shame the Flames did not have him longer.

He isn't paid very well...he is paid below his production let alone for any intangibles. Flip flops though

If no class is what you’re into, let it float your boat. But some of us don’t live in that world.

Well he also has a good chance to win the cup there, which wasn't happening here.

I've said it before, Tkachuk is very very media savvy. Which is why I take any past quote from him on his desire to stay here with a huge grain of salt.

Didn’t need to say anything, I suppose.
Could’ve been more shade against Tre. Fault him for that? :-)
But knowing Toronto media, it’ll give them something to do long after garbage bag day

Maybe this, maybe a bit of TO ribbing for his brother's rivalry with them, maybe some old shade to the TO fans from the Muzzin puck flip days.
He does have some history with those fans and probably also knows the media circus he's creating there with this little drive by.

I can't even hate on Tkachuk. He gave us a pretty good run for a guy that didn't have a friend network or family here (Sutter said he felt bad for Chucky because he didn't have much going on outside of the rink here) and stuck it out through COVID without ever publicly complaining (including to podcasts etc). He made his preference clear well ahead of time after Gaudreau jetted after giving the team no forewarning of his intent.
He played it about as well as you can given his disposition and was nowhere near an Adam Fox about it.
We can disagree with his ultimate decision and still respect the player. He expressed nothing but gratitude for Calgary.

He's still paid just a shade under $10 million in one of the best organisations in hockey right now. I'm as hurt as anyone that he left but not like he's in some kind of Johhny-like nightmare.

Lots of juicy tidbits from Elliotte today around the Leafs. No replacement for Shanahan is interesting and might mean MLSE are open to moving Tre up to that role, but likely wants to see some more of his plan play out first as GM and prefers he focus solely on GMing this coming season or two.

It seems in retrospect that Dubas was the wrong guy to go. He wanted to make big changes after last year, was pushing to move Marner before his full NMC kicked in, and Shanahan overruled and then fired Dubas.
Marner looked even more checked out than usual all season, he was likely ready to go last year. Now, the returns will not be as good, but Marner will absolutely waive for a trade to the right market, preferably someplace with zero hockey media and even lower expectations (hello Anaheim!)
All the talk about Tre, Dubas, Keefe, but it seems apparent that Shanahan is the real problem with this organization. He's already gone, will be official before the end of the week.

You don't seem to get it. 40 years ago two completely different GMs pulled off a trade where we got fleeced. Got to beware.

Well there was that Phaneuf trade.
Lots of bad juju trading with them.

Naa. Dubas messed himself up with that presser where he was looking for more power and presence among the board. They let him go based on that power play.
I also believe Dubas’ core belief is guys with skill. He loves bringing those guys in and hoping they develop and edge. I do believe him and Shanahan were on the same page about keeping the core four. I’m sure all that changes this year though. They’ve used all their lives and it was solely on the core four as to why they lost.
