I see it the same way I saw smoking grass before it was legal. You have to catch me for it to be a problem. I've been sneaking beers in the parking lot for a decade.

Social media may create an issue as well. When someone posts a picture of a tailgate at Spruce Meadows while openly enjoying a beer in the parking lot might create a liability problem for the club.
(Note: I am 100% in favour of tailgating!)

Out of curiosity how do NFL or CFL teams handle the logistics?

Of course, but then Ian might be worried what would happen behaviour wise if a significantly greater amount of beer was sold & consumed...

The Stampeders have tried to clamp down on openly consuming alcohol in the past. I think the unwritten rule is the use of a red Solo cup instead of drinking from a can. The powers that be then tend to look the other way unless someone becomes a total clown.

The last two games I've been to the tailgates have been full on proper ones with beers in hands all over the lot. I remember back in the day they tried to stomp them out because they were out of hand, but it appears with declining attendance and an aging fanbase they've let it be.
Last fall at the Riders game our group was talking to the police that walk around and sharing laughs, everyone beers in hand and others opening a massive cooler and grabbing beers out.

Rumour: Ntignee Set For FC Annecy?
https://northerntribune.ca/fc-annecy...tignee-rumour/
Quote:
Rumours have sprung up that 21-year-old Goteh Ntignee has been targeted by Ligue 2 side FC Annecy, who are adding several new faces in a bid to push themselves up the rankings in France’s second tier.
|
Was hoping we'd get one more year at least with Ntignee. Regardless, if true, it's great news for Canadian soccer development. Just hope it's not too soon (like what happened with Pepple!).

Ntignee has been amazing this year but I think he needs one more year of development. Next year he can really dominate this league and Cavalry would be happy to move him on.

I hope we get one more year - if not for Ntignee himself, but for the Cavs fans and for the value he can return 12 months from now.

Watch the Cavs have a fire sale, finish forth and lose in the first round.

For the uninitiated how do the tailgates work. Can I just join in and pitch in for the beer? Or do people bring their own? I have walked past the setup a couple of times and been tempted to join in

Just approach, appear friendly and outgoing, ask if they'd mind if you could join them, and you'll probably be offered a beer regardless. But bringing a couple of beers for yourself would be well received. Then talk about soccer and stuff.
There's a Facebook group for section 109 (neighbours across the corner from the Foot Soldiers) where a couple of people in particular seem to be the driving force for the tailgates. Sitting in 109 is not necessary to join the group.

The same people also post in the main Foot Soldiers Facebook group a bit too: https://www.facebook.com/groups/footsoldierssg
I usually don't get to the games early enough for much tailgating, though I stop in when I can. The vibe is pretty laid back and welcoming.

The guy who runs one the tailgate in Lot 8 (David) is as approachable as you can get.

Surprised it happened that it happened so quickly. Hate to see him go but hope the transfer fee helps the Cavs. Feels like the team is becoming quite the talent factory - I wonder how long we'll be able to keep Kobza.

I believe in the Jays.

That’s great for him, hopefully he can do well. Sucks to lose him so quickly though!
Does that mean he’s not actually injured?

League record transfer fee is exciting!
Will miss seeing Ntignee terrorize defenders.
Ligue 2 seems a good league to step up to. Will have to fight for his place but seems more doable ala Abzi rather than Pepple moving to a championship club
